THE MINISTRY
AND ATONEMENT OF JESUS
In this grouping of the words of Jesus,
the first group, 7 x 7) speaks of His ministry and Atonement. The
second group (7 x 7) declares His mission from the Father. The third
group (7 x 7) speaks of Christ and His Deity. |
I. Christ Declares His Ministry 1. ANOINTED TO
PREACH THE GOSPEL TO THE POOR
The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he bath anointed
me to preach the gospel to the poor.... Luke 4:18.
2. TO HEAL THE BROKEN-HEARTED
He bath sent me to heal the broken-hearted.... Luke 4:18.
3. TO PREACH DELIVERANCE TO THE CAPTIVES
To preach deliverance to the captives.... Luke 4:18.
4. RECOVERING OF SIGHT TO THE BLIND
And recovering of sight to the blind. . . . Luke 4:18.
5. TO SET AT LIBERTY THEM THAT ARE BRUISED
To set at liberty them that are bruised.... Luke 4:18.
6. TO PREACH THE ACCEPTABLE YEAR OF THE LORD
To preach the acceptable year of the Lord. Luke 4:19.
7. (The above Scripture which Christ applied to Himself, was
taken from Isa. 61:1-2. He did not quote the last provision of the
prophecy, "to proclaim . the day of vengeance of our God," for this
was not to be fulfilled until His Second Coming. This seventh
fulfillment of the work of His ministry is fully explained in His
prophecies of the Second Coming.) |
II. Christ's Ministry of
Deliverance
1. Luke 4:18.
(See Group I). 2. CHRIST SENDS PROOF OF HIS
MINISTRY TO JOHN
The blind receive their sight, and the lame walk, the lepers
are cleansed, and the deaf hear, the dead are raised up, and the
poor have the gospel preached to them. And blessed is he,
whosoever shall not be offended in me. Matt. 11:5-6.
3. CASTING OUT DEVILS PROOF OF THE PRESENCE OF THE
KINGDOM OF GOD
But if I with the finger of God cast out devils, no doubt the
kingdom of God is come upon you. Luke 11:20.
4. CHRIST CONTINUES MINISTRY OF DELIVERANCE DESPITE ALL
OPPOSITION
Go ye, and tell that fox, Behold, I cast out devils, and I do
cures today and tomorrow, and the third day I shall be
perfected. Luke 13:32.
5. CHRIST CAME TO SET MEN FREE
If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free
indeed. John 8:36.
6. HEALING OF THE SICK IS THE WORKS OF GOD
I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day:
the night cometh, when no man can work. John 9:4.
7. CHRIST CAME TO SAVE THAT WHICH WAS LOST
For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was
lost. Luke 19:10.

III. Christ Predicts His Death by
Crucifixion 1. SON OF MAN TO BE LIFTED UP AS SERPENT
IN THE WILDERNESS
And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so
must the Son of man be lifted up. John 3:14.
2. THE LIFTING UP OF CHRIST TO CONVINCE MANY
When ye have lifted up the Son of man, then shall ye know
that I am he, and that I do nothing of myself; but as my Father
hath taught me, I speak these things. John 8:28.
3. THE LIFTING UP OF CHRIST TO DRAW MEN TO HIM
And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men
unto me. John 12:32.
4. CHRIST'S PROPHECY OF HIS DEATH
Let these sayings sink down into your ears for the Son of man
shall be delivered into the hands of men. Luke 9:44.
5. TO BE BETRAYED AND CONDEMNED TO DEATH
Behold, we go up to Jerusalem; and the Son of man shall be
betrayed unto the chief priests and unto the scribes, and they
shall condemn him to death. Matt. 20:18.
6. TO BE MOCKED, TO BE SCOURGED, TO BE CRUCIFIED
And shall deliver him to the Gentiles to mock, and to
scourge, and to crucify him: and the third day he shall rise
again. Matt. 20:19.
7. CHRIST TO GIVE HIS LIFE AS A RANSOM FOR REDEMPTION OF
MANY
Even as the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to
minister, and to give his life a ransom for many. Matt. 20:28.

IV. The Eating of the Passover
1. TELLS DISCIPLES TO EAT—THIS IS HIS BODY
Take, eat; this is my body. Matt. 26:26.
2. HE INSTITUTES LORD'S SUPPER—TO BE OBSERVED IN
REMEMBRANCE OF HIM
This is my body which is given for you: this do in
remembrance of me. Luke 22:19.
3. IT WAS HIS BODY BROKEN FOR HIS DISCIPLES
Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do
in remembrance of me. I Cor. 11:24.
4. THE CUP WAS THE NEW TESTAMENT IN HIS BLOOD SHED FOR
HIS DISCIPLES
This cup is the new testament in my blood, which is shed for
you. Luke 22:20.
5. DISCIPLES WERE TO DRINK ALL OF IT
Drink ye all of it. Matt. 26:27.
6. IT WAS THE BLOOD OF THE NEW TESTAMENT SHED FOR THE
REMISSION OF THE SINS OF MANY
For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed
for many for the remission of sins. Matt. 26:28. 7.
CHRIST WILL NOT DRINK AGAIN OF THE FRUIT OF THE VINE UNTIL HE DRINKS
IT IN THE KINGDOM OF GOD
But I say unto you, I will not drink henceforth of this fruit
of the vine, until that day when I drink it new with you in my
Father's kingdom. Matt. 26:29.

V. Christ's Humanity
1. THE SON OF MAN HUNGERED
(See Matt. 4:2) The Son of man came eating and drinking, and
they say, Behold a man gluttonous, and a winebibber, a friend of
publicans and sinners. But wisdom is justified of her children.
Matt. 11:19.
2. HE HAD NO WHERE TO LAY HIS HEAD
The foxes have holes, and the birds of the air have nests;
but the Son of man hath not where to lay his head. Matt. 8:20.
3. HE WAS TEMPTED
Ye are they which have continued with me in my temptations.
Luke 22:28.
4. HE HAD SORROW EVEN UNTO DEATH; ASKED DISCIPLES TO
WATCH WITH HIM
My soul is exceeding sorrowful, even unto death: tarry ye
here, and watch with me. Matt. 26:38.
5. HE FELT THE AGONY OF THE CUP
O my Father, if this cup may not pass away from me, except I
drink it, thy will be done. Matt. 26:42.
6. HE HAD THE RESPONSIBILITY OF CARE OF HIS MOTHER
Woman, behold thy son! Behold thy mother! John 19:26-27.

VI. Christ Predicts Resurrection
on the Third Day As Fulfillment of Plan of Redemption
1. THE TEMPLE OF HIS BODY TO BE RAISED UP AFTER THREE DAYS
Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.
John 2:19.
2. HE WAS TO BE SLAIN AND RAISED THE THIRD DAY
The on of man must suffer many things, and be rejected of the
elders and chief priests and scribes, and be slain, and he
raised the third day. Luke 9:22.
3. HE WAS TO BE PERFECTED ON THE THIRD DAY
Go ye, and tell that fox, Behold, I cast out devils, and I do
cures today and tomorrow, and the third day I shall be
perfected. Luke 13:32.
4. AS JONAH WAS THREE DAYS AND NIGHTS IN THE WHALE'S
BELLY—SO CHRIST IN THE HEART OF THE EARTH
For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the whale's
belly; so shall the ``on of man be three days and three nights
in the heart of the earth. Matt. 12:40.
5. TO BE KILLED AND RAISED AGAIN ON THE THIRD DAY
The Son of man shall be betrayed into the hands of men: And
they shall kill him, and the third day he shall be raised again.
Matt. 17:22-23.
6. GENTILES TO SCOURGE AND CRUCIFY HIM BUT HE WOULD RISE
AGAIN ON THIRD DAY
And shall deliver him to the Gentiles to mock, and to
scourge, and to crucify him: and the third day he shall rise
again. Matt 20:19.
7. THE SON OF MAN TO RISE ON THE THIRD DAY
The Son of man is delivered into the hands of men, and they
shall kill him; and after that he is killed, he shall rise the
third day. hark 9:31. (See Luke 24:46.)

VII. Christ Shows Fulfillment of
Redemption By Giving Evidence of His Resurrection
1. A MAN IS A FOOL NOT TO BELIEVE IN CHRIST'S RESURRECTION
O fools, and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets
have spoken: Luke 24:25.
2. CHRIST SUFFERED THAT HE MIGHT ENTER INTO HIS GLORY
Ought not Christ to have suffered these things, and to enter
into his glory? Luke 24:26.
3. MARY NOT TO TOUCH CHRIST AT THE FIRST
First Command: Woman, why weepest thou? whom seekest thou?
Mary.. . Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father:
but go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto my
Father, and your Father; and to my God, and your God. John
20:15-17.
4. LATER TOLD DISCIPLES TO TOUCH HIM AND SEE THAT HE IS
NOT A SPIRIT
Later: Why are ye troubled? and why do thoughts arise in your
hearts? Behold my hands and my feet, that it is I myself: handle
me, and see; for a spirit bath not flesh and bones, as ye see me
have. Luke 24:38-39.
5. CHRIST ASKS THOMAS TO TOUCH HIM
Peace be unto you. Reach hither thy finger, and behold my
hands, and reach hither thy hand, and thrust it into my side:
and be not faithless, but believing. John 20:26-27.
6. BLESSED ARE THEY THAT HAVE NOT SEEN, YET HAVE
BELIEVED
Thomas. because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed:
blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed. John
20:29.
7. ALL THINGS SFOKEN OF CHRIST HAD TO BE FULFILLED
These are the words which I spake unto you. while I was yet
with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written
in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms,
concerning me. Luke 24:44.

VIII. The Works of Christ Done
That Men Might Believe 1. CHRIST DID THE WORKS OF
THE FATHER THAT MEN MIGHT BELIEVE
If I do not the works of my Father, believe me not. But if I
do, though ye believe not me, believe the works: that ye may
know, and believe, that the Father is in me, and I in him. John
10:37-38.
2. CHRIST RAISED LAZARUS THAT THE PEOPLE MIGHT BELIEVE
And I am glad for your sakes that I was not there. to the
intent ye may believe; nevertheless let us go unto him. John
11:15.
3. CHRIST PRAYED THAT THE PEOPLE MIGHT BELIEVE
And I knew that thou hearest me always: but because of the
people which stand by I said it. that they may believe that thou
hast sent me. John 11:42.
4. CHRIST FORETOLD EVENTS OF THE FUTURE THAT THE
DISCIPLES MIGHT BELIEVE IN HIM
Now I tell you before it come, that, when it is come to pass, ye
may believe that I am he. John 13:19.
5. DISCIPLES WERE TO BELIEVE FOR WORKS' SAKE
Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me: or
else believe me for the very works' sake. John 14:11.
6. CHRIST SPOKE OF EVENTS TO COME THAT THE DISCIPLES
MIGHT BELIEVE
And now I have told you before it come to pass, that, when it
come to pass, ye might believe. John 14:29.
7. CHRIST PRAYED THAT THE DISCIPLES BE ONE THAT THE
WORLD MIGHT BELIEVE
That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I
in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may
believe that thou hast sent me. John 17:21.

IX. All Must Come to the Father
Through the Son 1. NO MAN KNOWS THE FATHER EXCEPT
THE SON REVEAL HIM
All things are delivered unto me of my Father: and no man
knoweth the Son, but the Father; neither knoweth any man the
Father, save the Son, and he to whomsoever the Son will reveal
him. Matt. 11:27.
2. HIM THAT SERVES CHRIST, WILL THE FATHER HONOUR
If any man serve me, let him follow me; and where I am, there
shall also my servant be: if any man serve me, him will my
Father honour. John 12:26.
3. HE THAT BELIEVES ON THE SON BELIEVES ON THE FATHER
He that believeth on me, believeth not on me, but on him that
sent me. John 12:44.
4. NO MAN COMES TO THE FATHER BUT BY THE SON
I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the
Father, but by me. John 14:6.
5. THE SON CHOOSES AND ORDAINS HIS DISCIPLES
Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained
you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your
fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father
in my name, he may give it you. John 15:16.
6. HE THAT HATES THE SON HATES THE FATHER
He that hateth me hateth my Father also. John 15:23.
7. YE SHALL ASK THE FATHER IN MY NAME
And in that day ye shall ask me nothing. Verily, verily, I
say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he
will give it you. John 16:23.

X. The Son Came to Do the Will of the Father
1. THE SON TEACHES THAT THE FATHER'S WILL BE DONE
Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in
heaven. Matt. 6:10.
2. THE SON SEEKS TO DO THE WILL OF HIM THAT SENT HIM
My meat is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish
his work. John 4:34.
3. THE SON SEEKS NOT HIS OWN WILL BUT THE FATHER'S
I can of mine own self do nothing: as I hear, I judge: and my
judgment is just; because I seek not mine own will, but the will
of the Father which hath sent me. John 5:30.
4. THE SON CAME NOT TO DO HIS WILL BUT THE FATHER'S
For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the
will of him that sent me. John 6:38.
5. THE SON DOES THOSE THINGS THAT PLEASE THE FATHER
And he that sent me is with me: the Father hath not left me
alone; for I do always those things that please him. John 8:29.
6. THE SON KNOWS THE FATHER AND KEEPS HIS SAYING
Yet ye have not known him; but I know him: and if I should
say, I know him not, I shall be a liar like unto you: but I know
him, and keep his saying. John 8:55.
7. THE SON PRAYS THAT THE FATHER'S WILL BE DONE
Abba, Father, all things are possible unto thee; take away
this cup from me: nevertheless not what I will, but what thou
wilt. Mark 14:36.

XI. The Son Came to Speak the Words of the
Father 1. THE SON'S DOCTRINE IS THE FATHER'S
My doctrine is not mine, but his that sent me. John 7:16.
2. THE BELIEVER MAY KNOW SON'S DOCTRINE IS THE FATHER'S
If any man will do his will, he shall know of the doctrine,
whether it be of God, or whether I speak of myself. John 7:17.
3. THE SON SPEAKS OF WHAT HE HAS SEEN WITH HIS FATHER
I speak that which I have seen with my Father: and ye do that
which ye have seen with your father. John 8:38.
4. THE SON SPEAKS NOT OF HIMSELF BUT WHAT THE FATHER
GAVE COMMANDMENT
For I have not spoken of myself; but the Father which sent
me, he gave me a commandment, what I should say, and what I
should speak. John 12:49.
5. THE SON SPEAKS WHAT THE FATHER SAID
And I know that his commandment is life everlasting:
whatsoever I speak therefore, even as the Father said unto me,
so I speak. John 12:50.
6. THE SON'S WORD NOT HIS BUT THE FATHER'S
He that loveth me not keepeth not my sayings; and the word
which ye hear is not mine, but the Father's which sent me. John
14:24.
7. THE SON GAVE THE WORDS THAT THE FATHER GAVE HIM
For I have given unto them the words which thou gayest me;
and they have received them, and have known surely that I came
out from thee, and they have believed that thou didst send me.
John 17:8. I have given them thy word; and the world hath hated
them, because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the
world. John 17:14.

XII. The Son Came to Do the Works of the
Father 1. THE SON CAME TO FULFILL THE FATHER'S
BUSINESS
How is it that ye sought me? wist ye not that I must be about
my Father's business? Luke 2:49.
2. THE SON DOES THE WORKS THAT THE FATHER GAVE HIM
But I have greater witness than that of John: for the works
which the Father hath given me to finish, the same works that I
do, bear witness of me, that the Father hath sent me. John 5:36.
3. THE SON DOES THE WORKS OF THE FATHER WHILE IT IS DAY
I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day:
the night cometh, when no man can work. John 9:4.
4. THE SON'S WORKS WERE FROM THE FATHER
Many good works have I shewed you from my Father; for which
of those works do ye stone me? John 10:32.
5. BELIEVE THE WORKS OF THE SON THAT YE MAY KNOW THE
FATHER
If I do not the works of my Father, believe me not. But if I
do, though ye believe not me, believe the works: that ye may
know, nd believe, that the Father is in me, and I in him. John
10:37-38.
6. TO DISBELIEVE THE WORKS IS TO HATE THE FATHER AND SON
If I had not done among them the works which none other man
did, they had not had sin: but now have they both seen and hated
both me and my Father. John 15:24.
7. THE SON FINISHETH THE WORKS OF THE FATHER
I have glorified thee on the earth: I have finished the work
which thou gayest me to do. John 17:4.

XIII. The Son Came to Seek the Glory of the
Father 1. THE SON SEEKS THE GLORY OF THE FATHER
He that speaketh of himself seeketh his own glory: but he
that seeketh his glory that sent him, the same is true, and no
unrighteousness is in him. John 7:18.
2. THE SON HONOURS THE FATHER
I have not a devil; but I honour my Father, and ye do
dishonour me. John 8:49.
3. THE SON SEEKS NOT HIS OWN GLORY
And I seek not mine own glory: there is one that seeketh and
judgeth. John 8:50.
4. THE FATHER IS GLORIFIED IN THE SON
Now is the Son of man glorified. and God is glorified in him.
If God be glorified in him, God shall also glorify him in
himself, and shall straightway glorify him. John 13:31-32.
5. THE SON DESIRES THAT THE WORLD MAY KNOW HIS LOVE FOR
THE FATHER
But that the world may know that I love the Father; and as
the Father gave me commandment, even so I do. Arise, let us go
hence. John 14:31.
6. THE SON DESIRES THAT HE MAY GLORIFY THE FATHER IN
DEATH
Father, the hour is come; glorify thy Son, that thy Son also
may glorify thee: John 17:1.
7. THE SON GLORIFIED THE FATHER ON EARTH
I have glorified thee on the earth: I have finished the work
which thou gayest me to do. And now, 0 Father, glorify thou me
with thine own self with the glory which I had with thee before
the world was. John 17:4-5.

XIV. The Son Came to Reveal the Father's Name
1. THE SON COMMANDS THE HALLOWING OF THE FATHER'S NAME
After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in
heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Matt. 6:9.
2. THE SON CAME IN THE FATHER'S NAME; ANOTHER COMES IN
HIS OWN NAME
I am come in my Father's name, and ye receive me not: if
another shall come in his own name, him ye will receive. John
5:43.
3. THE SON DOES THE WORKS IN THE FATHER'S NAME
I told you, and ye believed not: the works that I do in my
Father's name, they hear witness of me. John 10:25.
4. THE SON INVOKES THE GLORIFICATION OF THE FATHER'S
NAME
Father, glorify thy name. John 12:28.
5. THE SON REVEALS THE FATHER'S NAME
I have manifested thy name unto the men which thou gayest me
out of the world: thine they were, and thou gayest them me; and
they have kept thy word. John 17:6.
6. THE SON COMMITS THE DISCIPLES IN THE FATHER'S NAME
And now I am no more in the world, but these are in the
world, and I come to thee. Holy Father, keep through thine own
name those whom thou hast given me, that they may be one, as we
are. While I was with them in the world, I kept them in thy
name: those that thou gayest me I have kept, and none of them is
lost, but the son of perdition; that the scripture might be
fulfilled. John 17:11-12.
7. THE SON DECLARES THE FATHER'S NAME
And I have declared unto them thy name, and will declare it:
that the love wherewith thou hast loved me may be in them, and I
in them. John 17:26.

XV. Christ the Bread of Life
I. THE FATHER GAVE CHRIST, THE TRUE BREAD, FROM HEAVEN
Verily, verily, I say unto you, Moses gave you not that bread
from heaven; but my Father giveth you the true bread from
heaven. For the bread of God is he which cometh down from
heaven, and giveth life unto the world. John 6:32-33.
2. I AM THE BREAD OF LIFE
I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never
hunger; and he that helieveth on me shall never thirst. John
6:35.
3. CHRIST THE BREAD THAT COMETH DOWN FROM HEAVEN
This is the bread which cometh down from heaven, that a man
may eat thereof, and not die. John 6:50.
4. HE THAT EATETH OF THIS BREAD SHALL LIVE FOREVER
I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man
eat of this bread, he shall live for ever: and the bread that I
will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the
world. John 6:51.
5. HE THAT EATETH OF CHRIST'S FLESH HATH ETERNAL LIFE
Whoso eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, bath eternal
life; and I will raise him up at the last day. John 6:54.
6. HE THAT EATETH CHRIST'S FLESH, DWELLETH IN HIM
Ile that eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, dwelleth in
me, and I in him. John 5:56.
7. HE THAT EATETH OF CHRIST SHALL LIVE BY CHRIST
As the living Father bath sent me, and I live by the Father:
so he that eateth me, even he shall live by me. John 6:57.

XVI. The Good Shepherd 1.
CHRIST IS THE GOOD SHEPHERD
But he that entereth in by the door is the shepherd of the
sheep. John 10:2.
2. THE SHEEP HEAR HIS VOICE
To him the porter openeth; and the sheep hear his voice. John
10:3.
3. HE CALLETH HIS SHEEP BY NAME
And he calleth his own sheep by name, and leadeth them out.
John 10:3.
4. HE GOETH BEFORE HIS SHEEP
And when he putteth forth his own sheep, he goeth before
them, and the sheep follow him: for they know his voice. John
10:4.
5. HE IS THE DOOR OF THE SHEEP
Verily, verily, I say unto you, I am the door of the sheep.
John 10:7.
6. BY HIM, IF ANY MAN ENTER IN HE SHALL BE SAVED
I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved,
and shall go in and out, and find pasture. John 10:9.
7. HE CAME THAT MEN MIGHT HAVE LIFE AND LIFE MORE
ABUNDANTLY
I am come that they might have life, and that they might have
it more abundantly. John 10:10b.

XVII. The Good Shepherd Lays Down Life That
Sheep May Have Life 1. THE GOOD SHEPHERD GIVETH HIS
LIFE FOR THE SHEEP
I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for
the sheen. John 10:11.
2. THE GOOD SHEPHERD KNOWETH HIS SHEEP
I am the good shepherd, and know my sheep, and am known of
mine. John 10:14.
3. HE LAYETH DOWN HIS LIFE FOR HIS SHEEP
As the Father knoweth me, even so know I the Father: and I
lay down my life for the sheep. John 10:15.
4. HE HAS OTHER SHEEP; THEY SHALL ALL BE OF ONE FOLD
And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also
I must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be
one fold, and one shepherd. John 10:16.
5. I LAY DOWN MY LIFE AND TAKE IT UP AGAIN
Therefore loth my Father love me, because I lay down my life,
that I might take it again. John 10:17.
6. MY SHEEP HEAR MY VOICE AND FOLLOW ME
My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:
John 10:27.
7. I GIVE UNTO THEM ETERNAL LIFE
And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never
perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. John
10:28.

XVIII. Concerning His Deity
1. CHRIST CLAIMED TO HAVE COME FROM HEAVEN
And no man bath ascended up to heaven, but he that came down
from heaven, even the Son of man which is in heaven. John 3:13.
What and if ye shall see the Son of man ascend up where he
was before? John 6:62.
2. (TO THE WOMAN AT THE WELL) HE REVEALED HE WAS THE
MESSIAH
I that speak unto thee am he. John 4:26.
3. HE CLAIMED TO HAVE BEEN BEFORE ABRAHAM THE JEHOVISTIC
"I AM"
I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins:
for if ye believe not that I am he, ye shall die in your sins.
Your father Abraham rejoiced to see my day: and he saw it, and
was glad. Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I
am. John 8:24, 56, 58.
4. HE CLAIMED THAT HE AND HIS FATHER WERE ONE
I and my Father are one. John 10:30.
5. HE CLAIMED TO BE THE SON OF GOD
Say ye of him, whom the Father hath sanctified, and sent into
the world, Thou blasphemest; because I said, I am the Son of
God? John 10:36.
Dost thou believe on the Son of God? John 9:35. Thou hast
both seen him, and it is he that talketh with thee. John 9:37.
6. HE CLAIMED TO HAVE BEEN WITH THE FATHER BEFORE THE
WORLD WAS
And now, 0 Father, glorify thou me with thine own self with
the glory which I had with thee before the world was. John 17:5.
7. HE CLAIMED HE WAS NOT THE SON OF DAVID
How say the scribes that Christ is the son of David? For
David himself said by the Holy Ghost, The Lord said to my Lord,
Sit thou on my right hand, till I make thine enemies thy
footstool. David therefore himself calleth him Lord; and whence
is he then his son? Mark 12:35-37.

XIX. Christ the Vine—The Branches, His
Disciples 1. CHRIST IS THE TRUE VINE
I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman. John
15:1.
2. EVERY BRANCH THAT BEARETH FRUIT IS PURGED
Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away; and
every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may
bring forth more fruit. John 15:2.
3. THE BRANCH MUST ABIDE IN THE VINE TO BEAR FRUIT
Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of
itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye
abide in me. John 15:4.
4. I AM THE VINE; YE ARE THE BRANCHES
I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me,
and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for with-out
me ye can do nothing. John 15:5.
5. A BRANCH THAT ABIDES NOT IS WITHERED, GATHERED, AND
BURNED
If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and
is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire,
and they are burned. John 15:6.
6. A VINE BEARING MUCH FRUIT GLORIFIES THE FATHER
Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so
shall ye be my disciples. John 15:8.
7. DISCIPLES ORDAINED TO BEAR MUCH FRUIT
Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained
you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your
fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye ask of the Father in my
name, he may give it you. John 15:16.

XX. Christ the Light of the World 1. I AM THE
LIGHT OF THE WORLD
I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not
walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life. John 8:12.
2. WALK WHILE YE HAVE THE LIGHT
Yet a little while is the light with you. Walk while ye have
the light, lest darkness come upon you: for he that walketh in
darkness knoweth not whither he goeth. John 12:35.
3. BELIEVE IN THE LIGHT THAT YE MAY BE CHILDREN OF THE
LIGHT
While ye have light, believe in the light, that ye may be the
children of light. John 12:36.
4. I AM COME A LIGHT INTO THE WORLD
I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on
me should not abide in darkness. John 12:46.
5. WHILE IN THE WORLD I AM THE LIGHT OF THE WORLD
As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.
John 9:5.
6. THIS IS THE CONDEMNATION: MEN LOVE DARKNESS RATHER
THAN LIGHT
And this is the condemmnation, that light is come into the
world, and men loved darkness rather than light. because their
deeds were evil. John 3:19.
7. HE THAT DOETH TRUTH COMETH TO THE LIGHT
For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither
cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. But he
that doeth truth ccmeth to the light, that his deeds may be made
manifest, that they are wrought in God. John 3:20-21.

Revelation 1. HE WALKETH IN THE MIDST OF THE SEVEN
GOLDEN CANDLESTICKS
Unto the angel of the church of Ephesus write; These things
saith he that holdeth the seven stars in his right hand, who
walketh in the midst of the seven golden candlesticks. Rev. 2:1.
2. HE IS THE FIRST AND THE LAST: HE WAS DEAD AND IS
ALIVE
And unto the angel of the church in Smyrna write; These
things saith the first and the last, which was dead, and is
alive. Rev. 2:8.
3. HE HATH THE SHARP SWORD WITH TWO EDGES
And to the angel of the church in Pergamos write; These
things saith he which hath the sharp sword with two edges. Rev.
2:12.
4. HIS EYES ARE LIKE UNTO A FLAME OF FIRE
And unto the angel of the church in Thyatira write; These
things saith the Son of God, who hath his eyes like unto a flame
of fire, and his feet are like fine brass. Rev. 2:18.
5. HE HATH THE SEVEN SPIRITS OF GOD AND SEVEN STARS
And unto the angel of the church in Sardis write; These
things saith he that hath the seven Spirits of God, and the
seven stars; I know thy works, that thou hast a name that thou
livest, and art dead. Rev. 3:1.
6. HE HATH THE KEY OF DAVID
And to the angel of the church in Philadelphia write; These
things saith he that is holy, he that is true, he that hath the
key of David, he that openeth, and no man shutteth; and
shutteth, and no man openeth. Rev. 3:7.
7. HE IS THE FAITHFUL AND TRUE WITNESS
And unto the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write;
These things saith the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the
beginning of the creation of God. Rev. 3:14.
