Trinity – (Greek  Trias & ity) The one true God exists as three eternal distinct ( = Not alike, Different) persons (Father, Son, Holy Spirit) in one Godhead.

II) Is there only one God?

Deuteronomy 6:4

Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one.

Isaiah 43:10, 11

"You are my witnesses," declares the LORD, "and my servant whom I have chosen, so that you may know and believe me and understand that I am he. Before me no god was formed, nor will there be one after me. I, even I, am the LORD, and apart from me there is no savior.

Isaiah 44:6, 8b

"This is what the LORD says-- Israel's King and Redeemer, the LORD Almighty: I am the first and I am the last; apart from me there is no God.

… Is there any God besides me? No, there is no other Rock; I know not one."

one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all.

Matthew 6:9

"This, then, is how you should pray: "`Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name,

IV) Is Jesus God?

A) Who created the Universe??

Genesis 1:1 – God created all

In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.

Colossians 1:16-18 – Jesus created all

For by him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things were created by him and for him.  He is before all things, and in him all things hold together. And he is the head of the body, the church; he is the beginning and the firstborn from among the dead, so that in everything he might have the supremacy.

John 1:3 – The LOGOS created all

Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made.

B) Jesus the Logos

John 1:1-3 The “Logos” Word was God

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made.

Revelation 19:13 – Jesus is the Logos  - Jesus was God

He is dressed in a robe dipped in blood, and his name is the Word of God

C) Jesus called God

1) Isaiah calls Jesus God

Therefore the Lord himself will give you] a sign: The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel.

Immanuel = God with us

Then he said to Thomas, "Put your finger here; see my hands. Reach out your hand and put it into my side. Stop doubting and believe." Thomas said to him, "My Lord and my God!" Then Jesus told him, "Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed."

3) Paul calls Jesus God

Philippians 2:5-8

Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus: Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped, but made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness a man, he humbled himself and became obedient to death-- even death on a cross!

Philippians 2:11

… and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord (Adoni), to the glory of God (Adoni) the Father.

Colossians 2:9

For in Christ all the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form,

1 Timothy 2:5

For there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus,

1 Timothy 3:16

Beyond all question, the mystery of godliness is great: God appeared in a body, was vindicated by the Spirit, was seen by angels, was preached among the nations, was believed on in the world, was taken up in glory.

Titus 2:13

while we wait for the blessed hope--the glorious appearing of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ,

4) God calls Jesus God

Hebrews 1:8

But about the Son he (GOD) says, "Your throne, O God, will last for ever and ever, and righteousness will be the scepter of your kingdom.

5) Jesus called himself God

For this reason the Jews tried all the harder to kill him; not only was he breaking the Sabbath, but he was even calling God his own Father, making himself equal with God

John 8:24

I told you that you would die in your sins; if you do not believe that I am you will indeed die in your sins."

John 10:30-33

I and the Father are one." Again the Jews picked up stones to stone him, but Jesus said to them, "I have shown you many great miracles from the Father. For which of these do you stone me?" "We are not stoning you for any of these," replied the Jews, "but for blasphemy, because you, a mere man, claim to be God."

D) Jesus is worshipped - Jesus said to worship God only, yet He receives worship.

Matthew 4:10

Jesus said to him, "Away from me, Satan! For it is written: `Worship the Lord your God, and serve him only.

Matthew 2:2

and asked, "Where is the one who has been born king of the Jews? We saw his star in the east and have come to worship him."

Matthew 2:11

On coming to the house, they saw the child with his mother Mary, and they bowed down and worshiped him. Then they opened their treasures and presented him with gifts of gold and of incense and of myrrh.

Jesus heard that they had thrown him out, and when he found him, he said, "Do you believe in the Son of Man?" "Who is he, sir?" the man asked. "Tell me so that I may believe in him Jesus said, "You have now seen him; in fact, he is the one speaking with you." Then the man said, "Lord, I believe," and he worshiped him.

Hebrews 1:6

And again, when God brings his firstborn into the world, he says, "Let all God's angels worship him."

E) Who destroyed Sodom & Gomorrah?

Genesis 18:1-3, 17 The LORD (YHWH) appeared to Abraham

The LORD appeared to Abraham near the great trees of Mamre while he was sitting at the entrance to his tent in the heat of the day. Abraham looked up and saw three men standing nearby. When he saw them, he hurried from the entrance of his tent to meet them and bowed low to the ground. He said, "If I have found favor in your eyes, my lord, do not pass your servant by.

Then the LORD said, "Shall I hide from Abraham what I am about to do?

Genesis 19:24 God on earth rained down fire from God in heaven

Then the LORD (on Earth) rained down burning sulfur on Sodom and Gomorrah--from the LORD out of the heavens

V) Do Jesus & the Father share the same names?

A) Alpha & Omega, Beginning & End, First & Last

Rev 21:6-7 God is Alpha & Omega, Beginning & End

He said to me: "It is done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. To him who is thirsty I will give to drink without cost from the spring of the water of life. He who overcomes will inherit all this, and I will be his God and he will be my son.

"I, Jesus, have sent my angel to give you this testimony for the churches. I am the Root and the Offspring of David, and the bright Morning Star."

B) The “I AM”

Exodus 3:14 God said his name was “I Am” YHWH

God said to Moses, "I AM WHO I AM. This is what you are to say to the Israelites: `I AM has sent me to you.'"

Hebrew I AM = YHWH              Greek I AM = Ego Eimi

John 8:53-58 Jesus said He was the I AM

Are you greater than our father Abraham? He died, and so did the prophets. Who do you think you are?" Jesus replied, "If I glorify myself, my glory means nothing. My Father, whom you claim as your God, is the one who glorifies me. Though you do not know him, I know him. If I said I did not, I would be a liar like you, but I do know him and keep his word. Your father Abraham rejoiced at the thought of seeing my day; he saw it and was glad." "You are not yet fifty years old," the Jews said to him, "and you have seen Abraham!" "I tell you the truth," Jesus answered, "before Abraham was born, I am!" At this, they picked up stones to stone him, but Jesus hid himself, slipping away from the temple grounds.

John 18:5-8 Again Jesus calls Himself the I AM

"Jesus of Nazareth," they replied. "I am he," Jesus said. (And Judas the traitor was standing there with them.) When Jesus said, "I am he," they drew back and fell to the ground. Again he asked them, "Who is it you want?" And they said, "Jesus of Nazareth." "I told you that I am he," Jesus answered. "If you are looking for me, then let these men go."

VI) Is the Holy Spirit a person of a force?

Acts 5:3 Peter said that Ananias lied to the Holy Spirit – you can’t lie to a force

Then Peter said, "Ananias, how is it that Satan has so filled your heart that you have lied to the Holy Spirit and have kept for yourself some of the money you received for the land?

Acts 13:2 The Holy Spirit spoke – forces can’t speak

While they were worshiping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, "Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them."

VII) Is the Holy Spirit God?

Acts 5:3-4 Peter said that Ananias lied to the Holy Spirit (God)

Then Peter said, "Ananias, how is it that Satan has so filled your heart that you have lied to the Holy Spirit and have kept for yourself some of the money you received for the land? Didn't it belong to you before it was sold? And after it was sold, wasn't the money at your disposal? What made you think of doing such a thing? You have not lied to men but to God."

Acts 13:2 The Holy Spirit spoke as God

While they were worshiping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, "Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them."
