[george.FTW]

Mary Ann Longstreth was the fifth of the fifteen children born in this hom e. Much of the time of the three years preceeding her marriage was spe nt in the home of Robert Holcomb of Deavertown, Ohio, whose wife Margar et , was her mother sister.
In 1876, while on a visit in Missouri, she contracted a sever bornchiti s, the outcome of which was awaited with considerable anxiety. The acute p hase of this illness she was able to throw off but its sequal was a chron ic bronchitis, with its manifestation of a winter cough, and as years pass ed its encroachments became more marked.
Life had always meant much to her. It gave her its full measure of t he joys of girlhood, motherhood, of home, church and friends, and when t he days of health began to change and there were so many limitations p ut on her strenght, there was no chnge in her view of life. Its joys a nd the joy of having it, were as dear as ever. Yet through this all she s howed her appreciation of the rare privilege she had been given of livi ng out the fullness of her years, so far beyond the ordinary allotment.
She was a woman of more than ordianary force of character and personali ty and no where did this show so much as in the home, which was to her f ar and away the central interest in life. Into her home life she poured t he energy of a happy social disposition, united with strong meral and reil gious views, all guided by good mental vigor and will power.
Mrs.. Brown was a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church from her earli est girlhood and as long as health permitted was a valued participant in i ts various activities. For several years health denied her many of the pr ivileges of church relationship, but as she was less able to take pa rt in the services of the church, the closer grew her spiritual relationsh ip with it.
