CHAPTER 6

go to law

shame

I speak.

Thus

is there not

a wise [man]

not even

one,

who

shall be able

to decide

between

But

brother

with

brother

goes to law,

and

this

before

unbelievers!

ηττημα

υμιν

εστιν

κριματα

εχετε

Already

indeed

therefore

altogether

a default

among

you

is,

that

law-suits

ye have

μεθ

εαυτων

δια

τι

ουχι

μαλλον

αδικεισθε

δια

τι

ουχι

among

yourselves.

Why

not

rather

suffer wrong?

why

not

rather

be defrauded?

υμεις

αδικειτε

και

αποστερειτε

και

ταυτα

αδελφους

But

ye

do wrong

and

defraud,

and

these things [to your]

brethren.

η

ουκ

οιδατε

οτι

αδικοι

βασιλειαν

θεου

ου

Or

know ye not

♦

that

unjust ones [the]

kingdom

of God

not 2

κληρονομησουσιν		μη		πλανασθε		ουτε		πορνοι		ουτε
shall inherit? 1		Be not misled;		♦		neither		fornicators,		nor

ειδωλολατραι		ουτε		μοιχοι		ουτε		μαλακοι		ουτε
idolaters,		nor		adulterers,		nor		abusers of themselves as women,		nor

αρσενοκοιται
abusers of themselves with men,

κλεπται

ουτε

πλεονεκται

ουτε

μεθυσοι

ου

λοιδοροι

ουχ

αρπαγες

nor

thieves,

nor

covetous,

nor

drunkards,

not

railers,

not

rapacious,

	βασιλειαν		θεου		ου		κληρονομησουσιν
	[the] kingdom		of God		♦		shall inherit.

ταυτα

τινες

ητε

αλλα

απελουσασθε

αλλα

ηγιασθητε

αλλ

And

these things

some of;

♦

but

ye were washed,

but

ye were sanctified,

but

εδικαιωθητε

εν

τω

ονοματι

του

κυριου

ιησου

και

εν

τω

πνευματι

ye were justified,

in

the

name

of the

Lord

Jesus,

and

by

the

Spirit

του		θεου		ημων
of our God.		♦		♦

παντα

μοι

εξεστιν

αλλ

ου

παντα

συμφερει

παντα

μοι

εξεστιν

αλλ

All things

to me

are lawful,

but

not

all things

do profit;

all things

to me

are lawful,

but

ουκ		εγω		εξουσιασθησομαι		υπο		τινος

βρωμασιν

δε

θεος

Meats

for the

belly.

and

the

belly

♦

for meats;

but God

♦

♦

ταυτην

ταυτα

καταργησει

το

δε

σωμα

ου

τη

πορνεια

both

this

and

these

will bring to nought:

but the

♦

body [is]

not

♦

for fornication,

αλλα

τω

κυριω

και

ο

κυριος

τω

σωματι

but

for the

Lord,

and

the

Lord

for the

body.

θεος

ηγειρεν

ημας

εξεγερει

δια

της

And God

both

the

Lord

raised up,

and

us

will raise out

by

his power,

ουκ

οιδατε

οτι

τα

σωματα

υμων

μελη

χριστου

εστιν

Know ye not

♦

that

your bodies

♦

♦

members

of Christ

are?

αρας

ουν

τα

μελη

του

χριστου

ποιησω

πορνης

μελη

Having taken

then

the

members

of the

Christ,

shall I make

[them] of 2 a 3 harlot 4

members? 1

May it not be!		♦

κολλωμενος

πορνη

εν

σωμα

εστιν

Or

know ye not

that

he that

is joined

to the

harlot,

εσονται

φησιν

δυο

σαρκα

μιαν

For shall be,

he says,

two

for

flesh 2

But he that

Lord,

φευγετε

πορνειαν

αμαρτημα

ανθρωπος

Flee

fornication.

Every

sin

which

σωματος

δε

πορνευων

εις

το

ιδιον

without

the

body

is,

but he that

commits fornication,

against

his own
