ΑΠΟΚΑΛΥΨΙΣ ΙΩΑΝΝΟΥ ΤΟΥ ΘΕΟΛΟΓΟΥ

Revelation of John the Theologian

 

CHAPTER 8
  1  και   οτε   ηνοιξεν   την   σφραγιδα   την   εβδομην   εγενετο   σιγη   εν   τω  
    And   when   he opened   the   seal 2   ♦   seventh, 1   was 4   silence 3   in   the  
ουρανω   ως   ημιωριον    
heaven   about   half-an-hour.    
  2  και   ειδον   τους   επτα   αγγελους   οι   ενωπιον   του   θεου   εστηκασιν   και  
    And   I saw   the   seven   angels,   who   before 2   ♦   God 3   stand, 1   and  
εδοθησαν   αυτοις   επτα   σαλπιγγες    
were given   to them   seven   trumpets.    
  3  και   αλλος   αγγελος   ηλθεν   και   εσταθη   επι   το   θυσιαστηριον   εχων  
    And   another   angel   came   and   stood   at   the   altar,   having  
λιβανωτον   χρυσουν   και   εδοθη   αυτω   θυμιαματα   πολλα   ινα  
a censer 2   golden; 1   and   was 3 given 4   to 5 him 6   incense 2   much, 1   that  
δωση   ταις   προσευχαις   των   αγιων   παντων   επι   το   θυσιαστηριον  
he might give [it]   to the   prayers   of the 2   saints 3   all 1   upon   the   altar 2  
το   χρυσουν   το   ενωπιον   του   θρονου    
♦   golden 1   which   [was] before   the   throne.    
  4  και   ανεβη   ο   καπνος   των   θυμιαματων   ταις   προσευχαις   των   αγιων  
    And   went up   the   smoke   of the   incense   with the   prayers   of the   saints,  
εκ   χειρος   του   αγγελου   ενωπιον   του   θεου    
out of   [the] hand   of the   angel,   before   ♦   God.    
  5  και   ειληφεν   ο   αγγελος   το   λιβανωτον   και   εγεμισεν   αυτο   εκ   του  
    And   took 3   the 1   angel 2   the   censer,   and   filled   it   from   the  
πυρος   του   θυσιαστηριου   και   εβαλεν   εις   την   γην   και   εγενοντο   φωναι  
fire   of the   altar,   and   cast [it]   into   the   earth:   and   there were   voices,  
και   βρονται   και   αστραπαι   και   σεισμος    
and   thunders,   and   lightnings,   and   an earthquake.    
  6  και   οι   επτα   αγγελοι   εχοντες   τας   επτα   σαλπιγγας   ητοιμασαν   εαυτους  
    And   the   seven   angels   having   the   seven   trumpets   prepared   themselves  
ινα   σαλπισωσιν    
that   they might sound [their] trumpets.    
  7  και   ο   πρωτος   αγγελος   εσαλπισεν   και   εγενετο   χαλαζα   και   πυρ  
    And   the   first   angel   sounded [his] trumpet;   and   there was   hail   and   fire  
μεμιγμενα   αιματι   και   εβληθη   εις   την   γην   και   το   τριτον   των  
mingled   with blood,   and   it was cast   upon   the   earth:   and   the   third   of the  
δενδρων   κατεκαη   και   πας   χορτος   χλωρος   κατεκαη    
trees   was burnt up,   and   all   grass 2   green 1   was burnt up.    
  8  και   ο   δευτερος   αγγελος   εσαλπισεν   και   ως   ορος   μεγα  
    And   the   second   angel   sounded [his] trumpet;   and   as [it were]   a mountain 2   great 1  
πυρι   καιομενον   εβληθη   εις   την   θαλασσαν   και   εγενετο   το   τριτον  
with 4 fire 5   burning 3   was cast   into   the   sea,   and   became 6   the 1   third 2  
της   θαλασσης   αιμα    
of 3 the 4   sea 5   blood;    
  9  και   απεθανεν   το   τριτον   των   κτισματων   των   εν   τη   θαλασση  
    and   died 14   the 1   third 6   of 3 the 4   creatures 5   which 6 [were] 7   in 8   the 9   sea 10  
τα   εχοντα   ψυχας   και   το   τριτον   των   πλοιων   διεφθαρη    
which 11   have 12   life; 13   and   the   third   of the   ships   was destroyed.    
  10  και   ο   τριτος   αγγελος   εσαλπισεν   και   επεσεν   εκ   του  
    And   the   third   angel   sounded [his] trumpet;   and   fell 4   out 5 of 6   the 7  
ουρανου   αστηρ   μεγας   καιομενος   ως   λαμπας   και   επεσεν   επι   το   τριτον  
heaven 8   a 1 star 3   great, 2   burning   as   a lamp,   and   it fell   upon   the   third  
των   ποταμων   και   επι   τας   πηγας   υδατων    
of the   rivers,   and   upon   the   fountains   of waters.    
  11  και   το   ονομα   του   αστερος   λεγεται   αψινθος   και   γινεται   το   τριτον   εις
    And   the   name   the   star   is called   Wormwood;   and   becomes 3   the 1   third 2   into
  αψινθον   και   πολλοι   ανθρωπων   απεθανον   εκ   των   υδατων   οτι  
  wormwood,   and   many 3   of 1 men 2   died   of   the   waters,   because  
επικρανθησαν    
they were made bitter.    
  12  και   ο   τεταρτος   αγγελος   εσαλπισεν   και   επληγη   το   τριτον   του
    And   the   fourth   angel   sounded [his] trumpet;   and   was smitten   the   third   of the
  ηλιου   και   το   τριτον   της   σεληνης   και   το   τριτον   των   αστερων   ινα  
  sun,   and   the   third   of the   moon,   and   the   third   of the   stars;   that  
σκοτισθη   το   τριτον   αυτων   και   η   ημερα   μη   φαινη   το  
should be darkened   the   third   of them,   and   the   day   not 2   should appear [for] 1   the  
τριτον   αυτης   και   η   νυξ   ομοιως    
third   of it,   and   the   night   likewise.    
  13  και   ειδον   και   ηκουσα   ενος   αγγελου   πετωμενου   εν   μεσουρανηματι  
    And   I saw,   and   heard   one   angel   flying   in   mid-heaven,  
λεγοντος   φωνη   μεγαλη   ουαι   ουαι   ουαι   τοις   κατοικουσιν   επι  
saying   with a voice 2   loud, 1   Woe,   woe,   woe,   to those who   dwell   on  
της   γης   εκ   των   λοιπων   φωνων   της   σαλπιγγος   των   τριων   αγγελων  
the   earth,   from   the   remaining   voices   of the   trumpet   of the   three   angels  
των   μελλοντων   σαλπιζειν    
who [are]   about   to sound [their] trumpets.
