Revelation of John the Theologian

 

CHAPTER 21
  1  και   ειδον   ουρανον   καινον   και   γην   καινην   ο   γαρ   πρωτος   ουρανος  
    And   I saw   a heaven 2   new 1   and   earth 3   a 1 new; 2   for the   ♦   first   heaven  
και   η   πρωτη   γη   παρηλθεν   και   η   θαλασσα   ουκ   εστιν   ετι    
and   the   first   earth   were passed away,   and   the   sea   no 2   is 1   longer.    
  2  και   εγω   ιωαννης   ειδον   την   πολιν   την   αγιαν   ιερουσαλημ   καινην  
    And   I   John   saw   the   city 2   ♦   holy, 1   Jerusalem 4   new, 3  
καταβαινουσαν   απο   του   θεου   εκ   του   ουρανου   ητοιμασμενην   ως  
coming down   from   ♦   God   out of   ♦   heaven,   prepared   as  
νυμφην   κεκοσμημενην   τω   ανδρι   αυτης    
a bride   adorned   ♦   for husband 2   her. 1    
  3  και   ηκουσα   φωνης   μεγαλης   εκ   του   ουρανου   λεγουσης   ιδου   η  
    And   I heard   a voice 2   great 1   out of   the   heaven,   saying,   Behold,   the  
σκηνη   του   θεου   μετα   των   ανθρωπων   και   σκηνωσει   μετ   αυτων  
tabernacle   ♦   of God   [is] with   ♦   men,   and   he shall tabernacle   with   them,  
και   αυτοι   λαοι   αυτου   εσονται   και   αυτος   ο   θεος   εσται   μετ   αυτων  
and   they   peoples 4   his 3   shall 1 be, 2   and   himself 2   ♦   God 1   shall be   with   them  
θεος   αυτων    
their God.   ♦    
  4  και   εξαλειψει   ο   θεος   παν   δακρυον   απο   των   οφθαλμων   αυτων  
    And   shall 2 wipe 3 away 4   ♦   God 1   every   tear   from   their eyes;   ♦   ♦  
και   ο   θανατος   ουκ   εσται   ετι   ουτε   πενθος   ουτε   κραυγη   ουτε   πονος
and   ♦   death   shall be no   ♦   longer,   nor   mourning,   nor   crying,   nor   distress
  ουκ   εσται   ετι   οτι   τα   πρωτα   απηλθον    
  any (lit. not) 3   shall 1 be 2   longer,   because   the   former things   are passed away.    
  5  και   ειπεν   ο   καθημενος   επι   του   θρονου   ιδου   καινα   παντα   ποιω   και  
    And   said   he who   sits   on   the   throne,   Lo,   new   all things   I make.   And  
λεγει   μοι   γραψον   οτι   ουτοι   οι   λογοι   αληθινοι   και   πιστοι   εισιν    
he says   to me,   Write,   because   these   ♦   words   true   and   faithful   are.    
  6  και   ειπεν   μοι   γεγονεν   εγω   ειμι   το   α   και   το   ω   η  
    And   he said   to me,   It is done.   I   am   the   A (Alpha letter)   and   the   O (Omega letter),   the  
αρχη   και   το   τελος   εγω   τω   διψωντι   δωσω   εκ   της   πηγης   του  
beginning   and   the   end.   I   to him that   thirsts   will give   of   the   fountain   of the  
υδατος   της   ζωης   δωρεαν    
water   ♦   of life   gratuitously.    
  7  ο   νικων   κληρονομησει   παντα   και   εσομαι   αυτω   θεος   και   αυτος  
    He that   overcomes   shall inherit   all things,   and   I will be   to him   God,   and   he  
εσται   μοι   ο   υιος    
shall be   to me   ♦   son:    
  8  δειλοις   δε   και   απιστοις   και   εβδελυγμενοις   και   φονευσιν   και  
    but to [the] fearful,   ♦   and   unbelieving,   and   abominable,   and   murderers,   and  
πορνοις   και   φαρμακευσιν   και   ειδωλολατραις   και   πασιν   τοις   ψευδεσιν  
fornicators,   and   sorcerers,   and   idolaters,   and   all   ♦   liars,  
το   μερος   αυτων   εν   τη   λιμνη   τη   καιομενη   πυρι   και   θειω   ο
their part   ♦   ♦   [is] in   the   lake   which   burns   with fire   and   brimstone;   which
  εστιν   δευτερος   θανατος    
  is [the]   second   death.    
  9  και   ηλθεν   προς   με   εις   των   επτα   αγγελων   των   εχοντων   τας   επτα  
    And   came   to   me   one   of the   seven   angels   which   had   the   seven  
φιαλας   τας   γεμουσας   των   επτα   πληγων   των   εσχατων   και   ελαλησεν   μετ
bowls   ♦   full   of the   seven   plagues 2   ♦   last, 1   and   spoke   with
  εμου   λεγων   δευρο   δειξω   σοι   την   νυμφην   του   αρνιου   την   γυναικα    
  me,   saying,   Come hither,   I will shew   thee   the   bride   ♦   Lamb’s 2   the 1   wife.    
  10  και   απηνεγκεν   με   εν   πνευματι   επ   ορος   μεγα   και   υψηλον   και  
    And   he carried away   me   in   [the] Spirit   to   a mountain   great   and   high,   and  
εδειξεν   μοι   την   πολιν   την   μεγαλην   την   αγιαν   ιερουσαλημ  
shewed   me   the   city 2   ♦   great, 1   the   holy   Jerusalem,  
καταβαινουσαν   εκ   του   ουρανου   απο   του   θεου    
descending   out of   the   heaven   from   ♦   God,    
  11  εχουσαν   την   δοξαν   του   θεου   και   ο   φωστηρ  
    having   the   glory   ♦   of God,   and   her radiance (lit. her luminary)   ♦  
αυτης   ομοιος   λιθω   τιμιωτατω   ως   λιθω   ιασπιδι   κρυσταλλιζοντι    
♦   [was] like   a stone   most precious,   as   a stone 3   jasper 2   crystal-like; 1    
  12  εχουσαν   τε   τειχος   μεγα   και   υψηλον   εχουσαν   πυλωνας   δωδεκα   και  
    having   also   a wall   great   and   high;   having   gates 2   twelve, 1   and  
επι   τοις   πυλωσιν   αγγελους   δωδεκα   και   ονοματα   επιγεγραμμενα   α  
at   the   gates   angels 2   twelve, 1   and   names   inscribed,   which  
εστιν   των   δωδεκα   φυλων   των   υιων   ισραηλ    
are   [those] of the   twelve   tribes   of the   sons   of Israel.    
  13  απ   ανατολης   πυλωνες   τρεις   απο   βορρα   πυλωνες   τρεις   απο   νοτου  
    On   [the] east   gates 2   three; 1   on   [the] north   gates 2   three; 1   on   [the] south  
πυλωνες   τρεις   απο   δυσμων   πυλωνες   τρεις    
gates 2   three, 1   on   [the] west   gates 2   three. 1    
  14  και   το   τειχος   της   πολεως   εχον   θεμελιους   δωδεκα   και   εν   αυτοις  
    And   the   wall   of the   city   having   foundations 2   twelve, 1   and   in   them  
ονοματα   των   δωδεκα   αποστολων   του   αρνιου    
names   of the   twelve   apostles   of the   Lamb.    
  15  και   ο   λαλων   μετ   εμου   ειχεν   καλαμον   χρυσουν   ινα   μετρηση   την  
    And   he   speaking   with   me   had   a reed 2   golden, 1   that   he might measure   the  
πολιν   και   τους   πυλωνας   αυτης   και   το   τειχος   αυτης    
city,   and   ♦   gates 2   its, 1   and   its wall.   ♦   ♦    
  16  και   η   πολις   τετραγωνος   κειται   και   το   μηκος   αυτης   τοσουτον  
    And   the   city   four-square 2   lies, 1   and   its length   ♦   ♦   so much  
εστιν   οσον   και   το   πλατος   και   εμετρησεν   την   πολιν   τω   καλαμω   επι  
is   as   also   the   breadth.   And   he measured   the   city   with the   reed--   ♦  
σταδιων   δωδεκα   χιλιαδων   το   μηκος   και   το   πλατος   και   το   υψος   αυτης  
furlongs 3   twelve 1   thousand; 2   the   length   and   the   breadth   and   the   height   of it  
ισα   εστιν    
equal 2   are. 1    
  17  και   εμετρησεν   το   τειχος   αυτης   εκατον   τεσσαρακοντα   τεσσαρων  
    And   he measured   its wall,   ♦   ♦   a hundred   [and] forty   four  
πηχων   μετρον   ανθρωπου   ο   εστιν   αγγελου    
cubits,   measure 3   a 1 man’s 2   which   is   [the] angel’s.    
  18  και   ην   η   ενδομησις   του   τειχους   αυτης   ιασπις   και   η   πολις  
    And   was 6   the 1   structure 2   of 3 its 4 wall 5   ♦   ♦   jasper;   and   the   city  
χρυσιον   καθαρον   ομοια   υαλω   καθαρω    
gold 2   pure, 1   like   glass 2   pure: 1    
  19  και   οι   θεμελιοι   του   τειχους   της   πολεως   παντι   λιθω   τιμιω  
    and   the   foundations   of the   wall   of the   city   with every   stone 2   precious 1  
κεκοσμημενοι   ο   θεμελιος   ο   πρωτος   ιασπις   ο   δευτερος   σαπφειρος   ο  
[were] adorned:   the   foundation 2   ♦   first, 1   jasper;   the   second,   sapphire;   the  
τριτος   χαλκηδων   ο   τεταρτος   σμαραγδος    
third,   chalcedony;   the   fourth,   emerald;    
  20  ο   πεμπτος   σαρδονυξ   ο   εκτος   σαρδιος   ο   εβδομος   χρυσολιθος   ο  
    the   fifth,   sardonyx;   the   sixth,   sardius;   the   seventh,   chrysolite;   the  
ογδοος   βηρυλλος   ο   ενατος   τοπαζιον   ο   δεκατος   χρυσοπρασος   ο  
eighth,   beryl;   the   ninth,   topaz;   the   tenth,   chrysoprasus;   the  
ενδεκατος   υακινθος   ο   δωδεκατος   αμεθυστος    
eleventh,   jacinth;   the   twelfth,   amethyst.    
  21  και   οι   δωδεκα   πυλωνες   δωδεκα   μαργαριται   ανα   εις   εκαστος  
    And   the   twelve   gates,   twelve   pearls;   respectively 3   one 2   each 1  
των   πυλωνων   ην   εξ   ενος   μαργαριτου   και   η   πλατεια   της   πολεως  
of the   gates   was   of   one   pearl;   and   the   street   of the   city  
χρυσιον   καθαρον   ως   υαλος   διαφανης    
gold 2   pure, 1   as   glass 2   transparent. 1    
  22  και   ναον   ουκ   ειδον   εν   αυτη   ο   γαρ   κυριος   ο   θεος   ο   παντοκρατωρ  
    And   temple 4   no 3   I 1 saw 2   in   it;   for the   ♦   Lord   ♦   God   ♦   Almighty  
ναος   αυτης   εστιν   και   το   αρνιον    
its temple   ♦   is,   and   the   Lamb.    
  23  και   η   πολις   ου   χρειαν   εχει   του   ηλιου   ουδε   της   σεληνης   ινα  
    And   the   city   no 2   need 3   has 1   of the   sun,   nor   of the   moon,   that  
φαινωσιν   εν   αυτη   η   γαρ   δοξα   του   θεου   εφωτισεν   αυτην   και  
they should shine   in   it;   for the glory   ♦   ♦   ♦   of God   enlightened   it,   and  
ο   λυχνος   αυτης   το   αρνιον    
the   lamp   of it   [is] the   Lamb.    
  24  και   τα   εθνη   των   σωζομενων   εν   τω   φωτι   αυτης   περιπατησουσιν  
    And   the   nations   of the   saved   in   its light   ♦   ♦   shall walk;  
και   οι   βασιλεις   της   γης   φερουσιν   την   δοξαν   και   την   τιμην   αυτων   εις  
and   the   kings   of the   earth   bring   ♦   glory 2   and 3   ♦   honour 4   their 1   unto  
αυτην    
it.    
  25  και   οι   πυλωνες   αυτης   ου   μη   κλεισθωσιν   ημερας   νυξ   γαρ   ουκ  
    And   its gates   ♦   ♦   not at all   ♦   shall be shut   by day;   night 4   for 1   no 2  
εσται   εκει    
shall be   there.    
  26  και   οισουσιν   την   δοξαν   και   την   τιμην   των   εθνων   εις   αυτην    
    And   they shall bring   the   glory   and   the   honour   of the   nations   unto   it.    
  27  και   ου   μη   εισελθη   εις   αυτην   παν   κοινουν   και  
    And   in no wise   ♦   may enter   into   it   anything (lit. everything)   defiling,   and  
ποιουν   βδελυγμα   και   ψευδος   ει   μη   οι   γεγραμμενοι   εν   τω   βιβλιω  
practising   abomination   and   a lie;   but   ♦   those who   are written   in   the   book  
της   ζωης   του   αρνιου    
♦   of life   of the   Lamb.
