Revelation of John the Theologian

 

CHAPTER 4
  1  μετα   ταυτα   ειδον   και   ιδου   θυρα   ηνεωγμενη   εν   τω   ουρανω   και   η  
    After   these things   I saw,   and   behold   a door   opened   in   ♦   heaven,   and   the  
φωνη   η   πρωτη   ην   ηκουσα   ως   σαλπιγγος   λαλουσης   μετ   εμου  
voice 2   ♦   first 1   which   I heard [was]   as   of a trumpet   speaking   with   me,  
λεγουσα   αναβα   ωδε   και   δειξω   σοι   α   δει   γενεσθαι   μετα  
saying,   Come up   hither,   and   I will shew   to thee   what things   must   take place   after  
ταυτα    
these things.    
  2  και   ευθεως   εγενομην   εν   πνευματι   και   ιδου   θρονος   εκειτο   εν   τω  
    And   immediately   I became   in   [the] Spirit;   and   behold,   a throne   was set   in   the  
ουρανω   και   επι   του   θρονου   καθημενος    
heaven,   and   upon   the   throne   [one] sitting,    
  3  και   ο   καθημενος   ην   ομοιος   ορασει   λιθω   ιασπιδι   και   σαρδινω
    and   he who   [was] sitting   was   like   in appearance   to a stone 2   jasper 1   and   a sardius;
  και   ιρις   κυκλοθεν   του   θρονου   ομοιος   ορασει   σμαραγδινω    
  and   a rainbow   [was] around   the   throne   like   in appearance   to an emerald.    
  4  και   κυκλοθεν   του   θρονου   θρονοι   εικοσι   και   τεσσαρες   και   επι   τους  
    And   around   the   throne   thrones 4   twenty 1   and 2   four, 3   and   on   the  
θρονους   ειδον   τους   εικοσι   και   τεσσαρας   πρεσβυτερους   καθημενους  
thrones   I saw   ♦   twenty   and   four   elders   sitting,  
περιβεβλημενους   εν   ιματιοις   λευκοις   και   εσχον   επι   τας   κεφαλας  
clothed   in   garments 2   white; 1   and   they had   on   their heads   ♦  
αυτων   στεφανους   χρυσους    
♦   crowns 2   golden. 1    
  5  και   εκ   του   θρονου   εκπορευονται   αστραπαι   και   βρονται   και   φωναι  
    And   out of   the   throne   go forth   lightnings   and   thunders   and   voices;  
και   επτα   λαμπαδες   πυρος   καιομεναι   ενωπιον   του   θρονου   αι   εισιν   τα  
and   seven   lamps   of fire   burning   before   the   throne,   which   are   the  
επτα   πνευματα   του   θεου    
seven   Spirits   ♦   of God;    
  6  και   ενωπιον   του   θρονου   θαλασσα   υαλινη   ομοια   κρυσταλλω   και   εν  
    and   before   the   throne   a sea 2   glass, 1   like   crystal.   And   in  
μεσω   του   θρονου   και   κυκλω   του   θρονου   τεσσαρα   ζωα  
[the] midst   of the   throne   and   around   the   throne   four   living creatures,  
γεμοντα   οφθαλμων   εμπροσθεν   και   οπισθεν    
full   of eyes   before   and   behind;    
  7  και   το   ζωον   το   πρωτον   ομοιον   λεοντι   και   το   δευτερον  
    and   the   living 2 creature 3   ♦   first 1   [was] like   a lion,   and   the   second  
ζωον   ομοιον   μοσχω   και   το   τριτον   ζωον   εχον   το   προσωπον  
living creature   like   a calf,   and   the   third   living creature   having   the   face  
ως   ανθρωπος   και   το   τεταρτον   ζωον   ομοιον   αετω   πετωμενω    
as   a man,   and   the   fourth   living creature   like   eagle 3   a 1 flying. 2    
  8  και   τεσσαρα   ζωα   εν   καθ   εαυτο   ειχον   ανα   πτερυγας  
    and   [the] four   living creatues,   each for itself   ♦   ♦   had   respectively   wings 2  
εξ   κυκλοθεν   και   εσωθεν   γεμοντα   οφθαλμων   και   αναπαυσιν   ουκ  
six; 1   around   and   within   full   of eyes;   and   cessation 4   not 3  
εχουσιν   ημερας   και   νυκτος   λεγοντα   αγιος   αγιος   αγιος   κυριος   ο   θεος   ο  
they 1 have 2   day   and   night,   saying,   Holy,   Holy,   Holy,   Lord   ♦   God   ♦  
παντοκρατωρ   ο   ην   και   ο   ων   και   ο   ερχομενος    
Almighty,   who   was,   and   who   is,   and   who   [is] to come.    
  9  και   οταν   δωσουσιν   τα   ζωα   δοξαν   και   τιμην   και   ευχαριστιαν  
    And   when   shall 4 give 5   the 1   living 2 creatures 3   glory   and   honour   and   thanksgiving  
τω   καθημενω   επι   του   θρονου   τω   ζωντι   εις   τους   αιωνας   των  
to him who   sits   upon   the   throne,   who   lives   to   the   ages   of the  
αιωνων    
ages,    
  10  πεσουνται   οι   εικοσι   και   τεσσαρες   πρεσβυτεροι   ενωπιον   του  
    shall fall   the   twenty   and   four   elders   before   him who  
καθημενου   επι   του   θρονου   και   προσκυνουσιν   τω   ζωντι   εις   τους  
sits   upon   the   throne,   and   they worship   him who   lives   to   the  
αιωνας   των   αιωνων   και   βαλλουσιν   τους   στεφανους   αυτων  
ages   of the   ages;   and   cast   their crowns   ♦   ♦  
ενωπιον   του   θρονου   λεγοντες    
before   the   throne,   saying,    
  11  αξιος   ει   κυριε   λαβειν   την   δοξαν   και   την   τιμην   και   την   δυναμιν  
    Worthy   art thou,   O Lord,   to receive   ♦   glory   and   ♦   honour   and   ♦   power:  
οτι   συ   εκτισας   τα   παντα   και   δια   το   θελημα   σου   εισιν   και  
because   thou   didst create   ♦   all things,   and   for   thy will   ♦   ♦   they are,   and  
εκτισθησαν    
were created.
