| the ages of time, | ♦ |

| but manifested | ♦ | in its own seasons | ♦ | his word | ♦ | ♦ | in |
| κηρυγματι | ο | επιστευθην | εγω | κατ | επιταγην | του | |||||||

| of Saviour 2 | our 1 | God; |
| 4 | τιτω | γνησιω | τεκνω | κατα | κοινην | πιστιν | χαρις | ελεος | ειρηνη | ||||||||||
| to Titus | [my] true | child | according to | [our] common | faith: | Grace, | mercy | peace |
| απο | θεου | πατρος | και | κυριου | ιησου | χριστου | του | σωτηρος | ημων | |||||||||||
| from | God | [the] Father, | and | [the] Lord | Jesus | Christ | our Saviour. | ♦ | ♦ |
| 5 | τουτου | χαριν | κατελιπον | σε | εν | κρητη | ινα | τα | λειποντα | ||||||||||
| For this cause | ♦ | I left | thee | in | Crete, | that | the things lacking | ♦ |
| επιδιορθωση | και | καταστησης | κατα | πολιν | πρεσβυτερους | ||||||
| thou mightest go on to set right, | and | mightest appoint | in every city | ♦ | elders, |
| ως | εγω | σοι | διεταξαμην | |||||
| as | I | thee 2 | ordered: 1 |
| 6 | ει | τις | εστιν | ανεγκλητος | μιας | γυναικος | ανηρ | τεκνα | εχων | ||||||||||
| if | anyone | is | unimpeachable, | of 2 one 3 | wife 4 | husband, 1 | children 7 | having 5 |
| πιστα | μη | εν | κατηγορια | ασωτιας | η | ανυποτακτα | ||||||||
| believing, 6 | not | under | accusation | of dissoluteness | or | insubordinate. |
| 7 | δει | γαρ | τον | επισκοπον | ανεγκλητον | ειναι | ως | θεου | οικονομον | ||||||||||
| For it behoves | ♦ | the | overseer | unimpeachable | to be, | as | God’s | steward; |
| μη | αυθαδη | μη | οργιλον | μη | παροινον | μη | πληκτην | μη | αισχροκερδη | |||||||||||
| not | selfwilled, | not | passionate, | not | given to wine, | not | a striker, | not | greedy of base gain, |
| 8 | αλλα | φιλοξενον | φιλαγαθον | σωφρονα | δικαιον | οσιον | εγκρατη | |||||||||
| but | hospitable, | a lover of good, | discreet, | just, | holy, | temperate, |
| 9 | αντεχομενον | του | κατα | την | διδαχην | πιστου | λογου | ινα | δυνατος | ||||||||||
| holding to | the | according 3 to 4 | the 5 | teaching 6 | faithful 1 | word, 2 | that | able |
| η | και | παρακαλειν | εν | τη | διδασκαλια | τη | υγιαινουση | και | τους | ||||||||||
| he may be | both | to encourage | with | ♦ | teaching 2 | ♦ | sound, 1 | and | those who |
| αντιλεγοντας | ελεγχειν | |||
| gainsay | to convict. |
| 10 | εισιν | γαρ | πολλοι | και | ανυποτακτοι | ματαιολογοι | και | φρεναπαται | |||||||||
| For there are | ♦ | many | and | insubordinate | vain talkers | and | mind-deceivers, |
| μαλιστα | οι | εκ | περιτομης | |||||
| especially | those | of | [the] circumcision, |
| 11 | ους | δει | επιστομιζειν | οιτινες | ολους | οικους | ανατρεπουσιν | ||||||||
| whom | it is necessary | stop the mouths of, | who | whole | houses | overthrow, |
| διδασκοντες | α | μη | δει | αισχρου | κερδους | χαριν | ||||||||
| teaching | things which [they] | ought not, | ♦ | base 4 | gain 5 | for 1 sake 2 of. 3 |
| 12 | ειπεν | τις | εξ | αυτων | ιδιος | αυτων | προφητης | κρητες | αει | ||||||||||
| Said 14 | one 6 | of 7 | themselves 8 | of 11 their 12 own 13 | ♦ | a 9 prophet, 10 | Cretans | always |
| ψευσται | κακα | θηρια | γαστερες | αργαι | ||||||
| [are] liars, | evil | wild beasts, | gluttons 2 | lazy. 1 |
| 13 | η | μαρτυρια | αυτη | εστιν | αληθης | δι | ην | αιτιαν | ελεγχε | αυτους | |||||||||||
| This testimony | ♦ | ♦ | is | true; | for | which | cause | convict | them |
| αποτομως | ινα | υγιαινωσιν | εν | τη | πιστει | |||||||
| with severity, | that | they may be sound | in | the | faith, |
| 14 | μη | προσεχοντες | ιουδαικοις | μυθοις | και | εντολαις | ανθρωπων | ||||||||
| not | giving heed | to Jewish | fables | and | commandments | of men, |
| αποστρεφομενων | την | αληθειαν | ||||
| turning away from | the | truth. |
| 15 | παντα | μεν | καθαρα | τοις | καθαροις | τοις | δε | μεμιασμενοις | |||||||||
| All things [are] | ♦ | pure | to the | pure; | but to those who | ♦ | are defiled |
| και | απιστοις | ουδεν | καθαρον | αλλα | μεμιανται | αυτων | και | ο | νους | και | |||||||||||
| and | unbelieving | nothing | [is] pure; | but | are defiled | their 2 | both 1 | ♦ | mind | and |
| η | συνειδησις | |||
| their conscience. | ♦ |
| 16 | θεον | ομολογουσιν | ειδεναι | τοις | δε | εργοις | αρνουνται | βδελυκτοι | |||||||||
| God | they profess | to know, | but in works | ♦ | ♦ | deny [him], | abominable 2 |
| οντες | και | απειθεις | και | προς | παν | εργον | αγαθον | αδοκιμοι | ||||||||||
| being 1 | and | disobedient, | and | as to | every | work 2 | good 1 | found worthless. |
