Second Epistle to the Corinthians

CHAPTER 11

1

οφελον

ανειχεσθε

μου

μικρον

τη

αφροσυνη

αλλα

και

ανεχεσθε

I would

ye were bearing with

my

in folly;

but

indeed

bear with

me.

ζηλω

υμας

θεου

ζηλω

ηρμοσαμην

For I am jealous as to

you

for I have espoused

παραστησαι

χριστω

to one

man

chaste 5

φοβουμαι

δε

μηπως

ως

ο

οφις

ευαν

εξηπατησεν

εν

But I fear

lest by any means

as

the

serpent

his craftiness,

νοηματα

should be corrupted

your thoughts

♦

from

απλοτητος

simplicity

which [is]

as to

the

Christ.

μεν

γαρ

ο

ερχομενος

αλλον

ιησουν

κηρυσσει

ον

For if indeed

♦

♦

he that

comes

another

Jesus

proclaims

whom

ουκ

εκηρυξαμεν

η

πνευμα

ετερον

λαμβανετε

ο

we did not proclaim,

♦

or

a spirit 2

ye receive

which

ουκ

ελαβετε

η

ευαγγελιον

ετερον

ο

ουκ

εδεξασθε

ye did not receive,

♦

or

glad 2 tidings 3

different 1

which

ye did not accept,

♦

	καλως		ηνειχεσθε
	well		were ye bearing with [it].

λογιζομαι

γαρ

μηδεν

υστερηκεναι

λιαν

in nothing

to have been behind

those

in a surpassing degree

apostles.

λογω

αλλ

γνωσει

But if

unpolished

♦

in speech [I am],

yet

not

♦

in knowledge;

but

in

παντι

φανερωθεντες

εν

πασιν

υμας

every [way]

made manifest

in

all things

to

you.

αμαρτιαν

εποιησα

εμαυτον

ταπεινων

ινα

υμεις

υψωθητε

οτι

Or

did I commit sin,

humbling 1

that

ye

might be exalted,

because

ευηγγελισαμην

υμιν

gratuitously

I announced

to you?

εσυλησα

λαβων

οψωνιον

προς

υμων

Other

assemblies

I despoiled,

having received

wages

for

service. 1

παρων

προς

υμας

και

υστερηθεις

ου

κατεναρκησα

ουδενος

And

being present

with

you

and

having been deficient,

♦

I did lazily burden

no one,

το

γαρ

υστερημα

μου

προσανεπληρωσαν

οι

αδελφοι

ελθοντες

απο

(for the

deficiency

of me

completely 3 filled 4 up 5

the 1

brethren 2

who came

from

μακεδονιας

και

εν

παντι

αβαρη

υμιν

εμαυτον

ετηρησα

Macedonia,)

and

in

everything

not burdensome

to you

myself

I kept

will keep.

καυχησις

this boasting

shall not be sealed up

regions

of Achaia.

Why?

because

I do not love

you?

♦

God

knows.

ποιω

ποιησω

ινα

εκκοψω

αφορμην

των

But what

I do,

also

I will do,

that

I may cut off

the

occasion

of those

θελοντων

αφορμην

ινα

εν

ω

καυχωνται

ευρεθωσιν

καθως

και

wishing

an occasion,

that

wherein

♦

they boast

they may be found

according as

also

ημεις
we.

οι

γαρ

τοιουτοι

ψευδαποστολοι

εργαται

δολιοι

For such [are]

♦

♦

false apostles,

workers 2

deceitful, 1

μετασχηματιζομενοι		εις		αποστολους		χριστου
transforming themselves		into		apostles		of Christ.

και

ου

θαυμαστον

αυτος

γαρ

ο

σατανας

μετασχηματιζεται

εις

And

not

wonderful [is it],

for himself 2

♦

♦

Satan 1

transforms himself

into

αγγελον		φωτος
an angel		of light.

15

ου

μεγα

ουν

ει

και

οι

διακονοι

αυτου

[It is] not

a great thing

therefore

if

also

his servants

♦

♦

μετασχηματιζονται

ως

διακονοι

δικαιοσυνης

ων

το

τελος

εσται

transform themselves

as

servants

of righteousness;

of whom

the

end

shall be

κατα		τα		εργα		αυτων
according to		their works.		♦		♦

αφρονα

ει

δε

μηγε

καν

Again

I say,

Not

anyone

a fool

to be;

but if

otherwise,

καυχησωμαι

as

a fool

receive

me,

that

may boast.

take [from you],

exalt himself,

(as being beside myself

I speak,)

above [measure]

I [too];

περισσοτερως

πληγαις

υπερβαλλοντως

φυλακαις

labours

more abundantly,

in

stripes

above measure,

in

imprisonments

περισσοτερως		εν		θανατοις		πολλακις
more abundantly,		in		deaths		often.

Thrice

I was beaten with rods,

once

I was stoned,

three times

I was shipwrecked,

νυχθημερον		εν		τω		βυθω		πεποιηκα
a night and a day		in		the		deep		I have passed:

In journeyings

often,

in perils

of rivers,

in perils

of robbers,

from [my own]

race,

in perils

from

[the] nations,

in perils

in

πολει

κινδυνοις

εν

ερημια

κινδυνοις

εν

θαλασση

κινδυνοις

εν

[the] city,

in perils

in

[the] desert,

in perils

on

[the] sea,

in perils

among

ψευδαδελφοις
false brethren;

κοπω

και

μοχθω

εν

αγρυπνιαις

πολλακις

εν

λιμω

και

διψει

εν

in

labour

and

toil,

in

watchings

often,

in

hunger

and

thirst,

in

νηστειαις

πολλακις

εν

ψυχει

και

γυμνοτητι

fastings

often,

in

cold

and

nakedness.

Besides

the things

without,

the

crowding

on me

daily,

the

μεριμνα		πασων		των		εκκλησιων
care		concering all		the		assemblies.

σκανδαλιζεται

Who

is weak,

and

I am not weak?

is offended

blessed

I do not lie.

τειχους

And

through

a window

in

a basket

I was let down

through

the

wall,

and

εξεφυγον		τας		χειρας		αυτου
escaped		his hands.		♦		♦
