ηλευθερωσεν

νομου

αμαρτιας

του

θανατου

νομου

πληρωθη

requirement

of the

law

should be fulfilled

in

us,

who

not

according to

σαρκα		περιπατουσιν		αλλα		κατα		πνευμα
flesh		walk,		but		according to		Spirit.

σαρκα

οντες

τα

της

σαρκος

φρονουσιν

For they that

according to

flesh

are,

the things

of the

flesh

mind;

οι

δε

κατα

πνευμα

τα

του

πνευματος

and they

♦

according to

Spirit,

the things

of the

Spirit.

φρονημα

σαρκος

θανατος

το

δε

φρονημα

του

For the

mind

of the

flesh

[is] death;

but the

♦

mind

of the

πνευματος		ζωη		και		ειρηνη
Spirit,		life		and		peace.

σαρκος

εχθρα

εις

θεον

τω

γαρ

νομω

Because

the

mind

of the

flesh

[is] enmity

towards

God:

for to the

law

υποτασσεται

ουδε

γαρ

δυναται

of God

it is not subject;

♦

for neither

♦

can it [be];

Spirit,

Spirit

of God

dwells

in

you;

but if

anyone [the]

Spirit

of Christ

has not,

♦

he

is not

εστιν		αυτου
♦		of him:

χριστος

εν

υμιν

μεν

σωμα

νεκρον

δι

but if

♦

Christ

[be] in

you,

the

indeed 2

body [is] 1

dead

on account of

αμαρτιαν

το

δε

πνευμα

ζωη

δια

δικαιοσυνην

sin,

but the

Spirit

life

on account of

righteousness.

πνευμα

εγειραντος

ιησουν

εκ

νεκρων

But if

the

Spirit

of him who

raised up

Jesus

from among [the]

dead

οικει

εν

υμιν

ο

εγειρας

τον

χριστον

εκ

νεκρων

dwells

in

you,

he who

raised up

the

Christ

from among [the]

dead

ζωοποιησει

και

τα

θνητα

σωματα

υμων

δια

το

ενοικουν

αυτου

will quicken

also

♦

mortal 2

bodies 3

your 1

on account of

that 3

dwells 4

his 1

πνευμα		εν		υμιν
Spirit 2		in		you.

ουν

αδελφοι

οφειλεται

εσμεν

ου

τη

σαρκι

So

then,

brethren,

debtors

we are,

not

to the

flesh,

♦

according 3 to 4

σαρκα		ζην
flesh 5		to 1 live; 2

ει

γαρ

κατα

σαρκα

ζητε

μελλετε

αποθνησκειν

ει

δε

for if

♦

according to

flesh

ye live,

ye are about

to die;

but if

♦

πνευματι

τας

πραξεις

του

σωματος

θανατουτε

ζησεσθε

by [the] Spirit

the

deeds

of the

body

ye put to death,

ye will live:

οσοι

γαρ

πνευματι

θεου

αγονται

ουτοι

εισιν

υιοι

θεου

for as many as

♦

by [the] Spirit

of God

are led,

these

are

sons

of God.

ου

γαρ

ελαβετε

πνευμα

δουλειας

παλιν

εις

φοβον

αλλ

ελαβετε

For not

♦

ye received

a spirit

of bondage

again

unto

fear,

but

ye received

πνευμα

υιοθεσιας

εν

ω

κραζομεν

αββα

ο

πατηρ

a Spirit

of adoption,

whereby

♦

we cry,

Abba,

♦

Father.

συμμαρτυρει

τω

πνευματι

εσμεν

Itself 3

Spirit 2

bears witness with

our spirit,

that

we are

τεκνα		θεου
children		of God.

ει

δε

τεκνα

και

κληρονομοι

κληρονομοι

μεν

θεου

And if

children,

also

heirs:

heirs

indeed

of God,

συγκληρονομοι

δε

χριστου

ειπερ

συμπασχομεν

ινα

και

and joint-heirs

♦

of Christ;

if indeed

we suffer together,

that

also

συνδοξασθωμεν
we may be glorified together.

λογιζομαι

γαρ

οτι

ουκ

αξια

τα

παθηματα

του

νυν

For I reckon

that

not

worthy [are]

the

sufferings

of the

present

αποκαλυφθηναι

the

for to vanity

creation

was subjected,

willingly,

but

δια		τον		υποταξαντα		επ		ελπιδι
by reason of		him who		subjected [it],		in		hope

αυτη

κτισις

ελευθερωθησεται

απο

της

δουλειας

της

that

also

itself 3

the 1

creation 2

shall be freed

from

the

bondage

φθορας

εις

την

ελευθεριαν

της

δοξης

των

τεκνων

θεου

of corruption

into

the

freedom

of the

glory

of the

children

♦

of God.

συστεναζει

συνωδινει

For we know

that

all

the

creation

groans together

and

travails together

until

♦

now.

Spirit

απολυτρωσιν

redemption

of our body.

For in hop

we were saved;

but hope

♦

seen

is not

♦

hope;

ο

γαρ

βλεπει

ελπιζει

for what

why

also

does he hope for?

δε

βλεπομεν

ελπιζομεν

υπομονης

απεκδεχομεθα

But if

what

we hope for,

in

endurance

we await.

το

πνευμα

συναντιλαμβανεται

ταις

Spirit

jointly helps

our weaknesses;

ασθενειαις

προσευξωμεθα

for that

which

we should pray for

according as

it behoves,

πνευμα

υπερεντυγχανει

υπερ

we know not,

but

Spirit 2

makes intercession

for

us

στεναγμοις		αλαλητοις
with groanings		inexpressable.

ερευνων

καρδιας

οιδεν

τι

το

φρονημα

But he who

searches

the

hearts

knows

what [is]

the

mind

of the

πνευματος

οτι

κατα

θεον

εντυγχανει

υπερ

αγιων

Spirit,

because

according to

God

he intercedes

for

saints.

οιδαμεν

δε

οτι

τοις

αγαπωσιν

τον

θεον

παντα

συνεργει

εις

But we know

that

to those who

love

♦

God

all things

work together

for

αγαθον

τοις

κατα

προθεσιν

κλητοις

ουσιν

good,

to those who

according to

purpose

called 2

are. 1

προεγνω

και

προωρισεν

συμμορφους

της

εικονος

Because

whom

he foreknew,

also

he predestinated [to be]

conformed to

the

image

του

υιου

αυτου

εις

το

ειναι

αυτον

πρωτοτοκον

πολλοις

of his Son,

for

♦

firstborn

among

many

αδελφοις
brethren.

But whom

he predestinated,

these

he called;

whom

he called,

εδοξασεν

these

also

he justified;

he justified,

those

also

he glorified.

What

then

shall we say

to

these things?

If

God [be]

for

us,

who

against

us?

εφεισατο

υπερ

ημων

Who

indeed

his own Son

♦

♦

spared not,

♦

but

for

us

παντων

παρεδωκεν

αυτον

πως

ουχι

συν

αυτω

παντα

ημιν

all

gave up

him,

how

εκλεκτων

Who

shall bring an accusation

against

[the] elect

of God?

[It is] God

who

justifies:

κατακρινων

χριστος

ο

αποθανων

μαλλον

δε

και

εγερθεις

who

he that

condemns?

[It is] Christ

who

died,

but rather

♦

also

is raised up;

ος

και

εστιν

εν

δεξια

του

θεου

ος

και

εντυγχανει

υπερ

ημων

who

also

is

at [the]

right hand

♦

of God;

who

also

intercedes

for

us:

ημας

χωρισει

απο

της

αγαπης

του

χριστου

θλιψις

η

who

us

shall separate

from

the

love

♦

of Christ?

tribulation,

or

στενοχωρια

η

διωγμος

η

λιμος

η

γυμνοτης

η

κινδυνος

η

μαχαιρα

strait,

or

persecution,

or

famine,

or

nakedness,

or

danger,

or

sword?

καθως

γεγραπται

οτι

ενεκα

σου

θανατουμεθα

ολην

την

According as

it has been written,

♦

For thy sake

♦

we are put to death

whole 2

the 1

ημεραν		ελογισθημεν		ως		προβατα		σφαγης
day;		we were reckoned		as		sheep		of slaughter.

αγαπησαντος

But

in

we more than overcome

him who

loved

For I am persuaded

neither

death,

nor

life,

nor

angels,

nor

principalities,

nor

powers,

nor

things present,

nor

things to be,
