Epistle to the Romans

| Wherefore | inexcusable | thou art, | O | man, | every on | who | judgest, |
| εν | ω | γαρ | κρινεις | τον | ετερον | σεαυτον | κατακρινεις | τα | γαρ | ||||||||||
| for that in which | ♦ | ♦ | thou judgest | the | other, | thyself | thou condemnst: | for the | ♦ |
| αυτα | πρασσεις | ο | κρινων | |||||
| same things | thou doest | who | judgest. |
| 2 | οιδαμεν | δε | οτι | το | κριμα | του | θεου | εστιν | κατα | αληθειαν | επι | ||||||||||||
| We 2 know 3 | but 1 | that | the | judgment | ♦ | of God | is | according to | truth | upon |
| τους | τα | τοιαυτα | πρασσοντας | |||||
| those that | ♦ | such things | do. |
| 3 | λογιζη | δε | τουτο | ω | ανθρωπε | ο | κρινων | τους | τα | ||||||||||
| And reckonest thou | ♦ | this, | O | man, | who | judgest | those that | such things |
| τοιαυτα | πρασσοντας | και | ποιων | αυτα | οτι | συ | εκφευξη | το | κριμα | ||||||||||
| ♦ | do, | and | practisest | them [thyself], | that | thou | shalt escape | the | judgment |
| του | θεου | |||
| ♦ | of God? |
| 4 | η | του | πλουτου | της | χρηστοτητος | αυτου | και | της | ανοχης | και | της | ||||||||||||
| or | the | riches | of the | kindness | of him | and | the | forebearance | and | the |
| μακροθυμιας | καταφρονεις | αγνοων | οτι | το | χρηστον | του | θεου | εις | |||||||||
| long-suffering | despisest thou, | not knowing | that | the | kindness | ♦ | of God | to |
| μετανοιαν | σε | αγει | ||||
| repentance | thee | leads? |
| 5 | κατα | δε | την | σκληροτητα | σου | και | αμετανοητον | καρδιαν | |||||||||
| but according to | ♦ | thy hardness | ♦ | ♦ | and | impenitent | heart |
| θησαυριζεις | σεαυτω | οργην | εν | ημερα | οργης | και | αποκαλυψεως | ||||||||
| treasurest up | to thyself | wrath | in | a day | of wrath | and | revelation |
| δικαιοκρισιας | του | θεου | ||||
| of righteousness judgement | ♦ | of God, |
| 6 | ος | αποδωσει | εκαστω | κατα | τα | εργα | αυτου | |||||||||
| who | will render | to each | according to | his works: | ♦ | ♦ |
| 7 | τοις | μεν | καθ | υπομονην | εργου | αγαθου | δοξαν | και | τιμην | και | |||||||||||
| to those that | ♦ | with | endurance | in work 2 | good, 1 | glory | and | honour | and |
| αφθαρσιαν | ζητουσιν | ζωην | αιωνιον | |||||
| incorruptibility | are seeking-- | life | eternal. |
| 8 | τοις | δε | εξ | εριθειας | και | απειθουσιν | μεν | τη | αληθεια | πειθομενοις | δε | ||||||||||||
| But to those | ♦ | of | contention, | and | who disobey | ♦ | the | truth, | but obey | ♦ |
| τη | αδικια | θυμος | και | οργη | ||||||
| ♦ | unrighteousness-- | indignation | and | wrath, |
| 9 | θλιψις | και | στενοχωρια | επι | πασαν | ψυχην | ανθρωπου | του | |||||||||
| tribulation | and | strait, | on | every | soul | of man | that |
| κατεργαζομενου | το | κακον | ιουδαιου | τε | πρωτον | και | ελληνος | |||||||||
| works out | ♦ | evil, | both of Jew | ♦ | first | and | of Greek; |
| 10 | δοξα | δε | και | τιμη | και | ειρηνη | παντι | τω | εργαζομενω | το | αγαθον | ||||||||||||
| but glory | ♦ | and | honour | and | peace | to everyone | that | works | ♦ | good, |
| ιουδαιω | τε | πρωτον | και | ελληνι | ||||||
| both to Jew | ♦ | first, | and | to Greek: |
| 11 | ου | γαρ | εστιν | προσωποληψια | παρα | τω | θεω | |||||||||
| for there is not | ♦ | ♦ | respect of persons | with | ♦ | God. |
| 12 | οσοι | γαρ | ανομως | ημαρτον | ανομως | και | απολουνται | και | |||||||||
| For as many as | ♦ | without law | sinned, | without law | also | shall perish; | and |
| οσοι | εν | νομω | ημαρτον | δια | νομου | κριθησονται | ||||||||
| as many as | in | law | sinned, | by | law | shall be judged, |
| 13 | ου | γαρ | οι | ακροαται | του | νομου | δικαιοι | παρα | τω | θεω | αλλ | οι | |||||||||||||
| (for not | ♦ | the | hearers | of the | law [are] | just | with | ♦ | God, | but | the |
| ποιηται | του | νομου | δικαιωθησονται | |||||
| doers | of the | law | shall be justified. |
| 14 | οταν | γαρ | εθνη | τα | μη | νομον | εχοντα | φυσει | τα | του | νομου | ||||||||||||
| For when | ♦ | nations | which | not 2 | law 3 | have 1 | by nature | the things | of the | law |
| ποιη | ουτοι | νομον | μη | εχοντες | εαυτοις | εισιν | νομος | |||||||||
| practise, | these, | law | not | having, | to themselves | are | a law; |
| 15 | οιτινες | ενδεικνυνται | το | εργον | του | νομου | γραπτον | εν | ταις | ||||||||||
| who | shew | the | work | of the | law | written | in | their hearts, |
| καρδιαις | αυτων | συμμαρτυρουσης | αυτων | της | συνειδησεως | και | μεταξυ | ||||||||
| ♦ | ♦ | bearing 3 witness 4 with | their 1 | ♦ | conscience, 2 | and | between |
| αλληλων | των | λογισμων | κατηγορουντων | η | και | απολογουμενων | ||||||||
| one another | the | reasonings | accusing | or | also | defending;) |
| 16 | εν | ημερα | οτε | κρινει | ο | θεος | τα | κρυπτα | των | ανθρωπων | κατα | ||||||||||||
| in | a day | when | shall 2 judge 3 | ♦ | God 1 | the | secrets | ♦ | of men, | according to |
| το | ευαγγελιον | μου | δια | ιησου | χριστου | |||||||
| my glad tidings, | ♦ | ♦ | by | Jesus | Christ. |
| 17 | ιδε | συ | ιουδαιος | επονομαζη | και | επαναπαυη | τω | νομω | και | καυχασαι | εν | |||||||||||
| Lo, | thou | a Jew | art named, | and | restest | in the | law, | and | boastest | in |
| θεω | |||
| God, |
| 18 | και | γινωσκεις | το | θελημα | και | δοκιμαζεις | τα | διαφεροντα | |||||||||
| and | knowest | the | will, | and | approvest | the things that | are more excellent, |
| κατηχουμενος | εκ | του | νομου | |||||
| being instructed | out of | the | law; |
| 19 | πεποιθας | τε | σεαυτον | οδηγον | ειναι | τυφλων | φως | των | |||||||||
| and art persuaded [that] | ♦ | thyself | a guide | art named, | of [the] blind, | a light | of those |
| εν | σκοτει | |||
| in | darkness, |
| 20 | παιδευτην | αφρονων | διδασκαλον | νηπιων | εχοντα | την | μορφωσιν | της | |||||||||
| an instructor | of [the] foolish, | a teacher | of infants, | having | the | form | ♦ |
| γνωσεως | και | της | αληθειας | εν | τω | νομω | ||||||||
| of knowledge | and | of the | truth | in | the | law: |
| 21 | ο | ουν | διδασκων | ετερον | σεαυτον | ου | διδασκεις | ο | |||||||||
| thou then that | ♦ | teachest | another, | thyself | not 3 | dost 1 thou 2 teach | thou that |
| κηρυσσων | μη | κλεπτειν | κλεπτεις | |||||
| proclaimest | not | to steal, | dost thou steal? |
| 22 | ο | λεγων | μη | μοιχευειν | μοιχευεις | ο | |||||||
| thou that | sayest | not | to commit adultery, | dost thou commit adultery? | thou that |
| βδελυσσομενος | τα | ειδωλα | ιεροσυλεις | |||||
| abhorrest | ♦ | idols, | dost thou commit sacrilege? |
| 23 | ος | εν | νομω | καυχασαι | δια | της | παραβασεως | του | νομου | τον | |||||||||||
| thou who | in | law | boastest, | through | the | transgression | of the | law | ♦ |
| θεον | ατιμαζεις | |||
| God 3 | dishonourest 1 thou? 2 |
| 24 | το | γαρ | ονομα | του | θεου | δι | υμας | βλασφημειται | εν | τοις | |||||||||||
| For the | ♦ | name | ♦ | of God | through | you | is blasphemed | among | the |
| εθνεσιν | καθως | γεγραπται | ||||
| nations, | according as | it has been written. |
| 25 | περιτομη | μεν | γαρ | ωφελει | εαν | νομον | πρασσης | εαν | δε | παραβατης | |||||||||||
| Circumcision 2 | indeed 3 | for 1 | profits | if [the] | law | thou doest; | but if | ♦ | a transgressor |
| νομου | ης | η | περιτομη | σου | ακροβυστια | γεγονεν | ||||||||
| of law | thou art, | thy circumcision | ♦ | ♦ | uncircumcision | has become. |
| 26 | εαν | ουν | η | ακροβυστια | τα | δικαιωματα | του | νομου | φυλασση | ουχι | |||||||||||
| If | therefore | the | uncircumcision | the | requirements | of the | law | keep, | not 2 |
| η | ακροβυστια | αυτου | εις | περιτομην | λογισθησεται | |||||||
| his 3 uncircumcision 4 | ♦ | ♦ | for 5 | circumcision 6 | shall be reckoned? 1 |
| 27 | και | κρινει | η | εκ | φυσεως | ακροβυστια | τον | νομον | τελουσα | σε | τον | ||||||||||||
| and | shall 8 judge 9 | the 1 | by 3 | nature 4 | uncircumcision, 2 | the 6 | law 7 | fulfilling, 5 | thee | who |
| δια | γραμματος | και | περιτομης | παραβατην | νομου | |||||||
| with | letter | and | circumcision [art] | a transgressor | of law? |
| 28 | ου | γαρ | ο | εν | τω | φανερω | ιουδαιος | εστιν | ουδε | η | |||||||||||
| For not | ♦ | he that [is one] | outwardly | ♦ | ♦ | a 2 Jew, 3 | is, 1 | neither | that |
| εν | τω | φανερω | εν | σαρκι | περιτομη | |||||||
| outwardly | ♦ | ♦ | in | flesh | [is] circumcision; |
| 29 | αλλ | ο | εν | τω | κρυπτω | ιουδαιος | και | περιτομη | καρδιας | εν | |||||||||||
| but | he that [is] | hiddenly | ♦ | ♦ | a Jew [is one]; | and | circumcision [is] | of heart, | in |
| πνευματι | ου | γραμματι | ου | ο | επαινος | ουκ | εξ | ανθρωπων | αλλ | εκ | του | ||||||||||||
| spirit, | not | in letter; | of whom | the | praise | [is] not | of | men, | but | of | ♦ |
| θεου | ||
| God. |
