And when

having drawn away

from

them,

ευθυδρομησαντες

ηλθομεν

εις

την

κων

τη

δε

εξης

εις

την

having run direct

we came

to

Cos,

and on the

♦

next [day]

to

♦

ροδον		κακειθεν		εις		παταρα
Rhodes,		and thence		to		Patara.

και

ευροντες

πλοιον

διαπερων

εις

φοινικην

επιβαντες

And

having found

a ship

passing over

into

Phoenicia,

having gone on board

ανηχθημεν
we sailed;

αναφαναντες

δε

την

κυπρον

και

καταλιποντες

αυτην

ευωνυμον

and having sighted

♦

♦

Cyprus,

and

having left

it

on the left

επλεομεν

εις

συριαν

και

κατηχθημεν

εις

τυρον

εκεισε

γαρ

ην

το

πλοιον

we sailed

to

Syria,

and

brought to

at

Tyre,

for there

♦

was

the

ship

αποφορτιζομενον		τον		γομον
discharging		the		lading.

ανευροντες

τους

μαθητας

επεμειναμεν

αυτου

ημερας

επτα

And

having found out

the

disciples,

we remained

there

days 2

seven; 1

οιτινες

τω

παυλω

ελεγον

δια

του

πνευματος

μη

αναβαινειν

εις

who

♦

to Paul

said

by

the

Spirit,

not

to go up

to

ιερουσαλημ
Jerusalem.

οτε

δε

εγενετο

ημας

εξαρτισαι

τας

ημερας

εξελθοντες

But when

♦

it was

we

completed

the

days,

having set out

επορευομεθα

προπεμποντων

ημας

παντων

συν

γυναιξιν

και

τεκνοις

we journeyed,

accompanying 2

us 3

all 1

with

wives

and

children

εως

εξω

της

πολεως

και

θεντες

τα

γονατα

επι

τον

αιγιαλον

as far as

outside

the

city.

And

having bowed

the

knees

on

the

shore

προσηυξαμεθα
we prayed.

ασπασαμενοι

αλληλους

επεβημεν

εις

το

πλοιον

εκεινοι

δε

And

having saluted

one another

we went up

into

the

ship,

and they

♦

υπεστρεψαν		εις		τα		ιδια
returned		to		their own [homes].		♦

ημεις

δε

τον

πλουν

διανυσαντες

απο

τυρου

κατηντησαμεν

εις

And we,

♦

the

voyage

having completed

from

Tyre,

arrived

at

πτολεμαιδα

και

ασπασαμενοι

τους

αδελφους

εμειναμεν

ημεραν

μιαν

Ptolemais,

and

having saluted

the

brethren

we abode

day 2

παρ		αυτοις
with		them.

And on the

morrow

of the

evangelist,

being

of

the

seven,

we abode

with

him.

Now to this [man]

there was

daughters 2

virgins 3

four 1

who prophesied.

Judaea,		a prophet,		by name		Agabus;

ελθων

προς

ημας

και

αρας

την

ζωνην

του

παυλου

and

having come

to

us,

and

having taken

the

girdle

♦

of Paul,

δησας

τε

αυτου

τας

χειρας

και

τους

ποδας

ειπεν

ταδε

λεγει

το

and having bound

♦

of himself

the

hands

and

the

feet

said,

Thus

says

the

πνευμα

το

αγιον

τον

ανδρα

ου

εστιν

η

ζωνη

αυτη

ουτως

Spirit

the

Holy,

The

man

of whom

is

this girdle

♦

♦

thus

δησουσιν

εν

ιερουσαλημ

οι

ιουδαιοι

και

παραδωσουσιν

εις

χειρας

shall bind 3

in 4

Jerusalem 5

the 1

Jews, 2

and

deliver up

into

[the] hands

εθνων
of [the] nations.

δε

ηκουσαμεν

ταυτα

παρεκαλουμεν

ημεις

τε

και

οι

Andwhen

♦

we heard

these things,

besought 8

both 1 we 2

those 4

εντοπιοι

του

μη

αναβαινειν

αυτον

εις

ιερουσαλημ

of 5 [the] 6 place 7

to

Jerusalem.

απεκριθη

δε

ο

παυλος

τι

ποιειτε

κλαιοντες

και

συνθρυπτοντες

But answered 2

Paul, 1

What

do ye

weeping

and

breaking

ου

μονον

δεθηναι

αποθανειν

my

heart?

for I

♦

not

only

to be bound

but

also

to die

at

ιερουσαλημ

ετοιμως

υπερ

ονοματος

κυριου

ιησου

Jerusalem

am ready

for

the

name

of the

Lord

Jesus.

μη

πειθομενου

δε

αυτου

ησυχασαμεν

ειποντες

το

And not 2 being 3 persuaded 4

♦

♦

he 1

we were silent,

saying,

The

θελημα		του		κυριου		γενεσθω
will		of the		Lord		be done.

μετα

δε

τας

ημερας

ταυτας

αποσκευασαμενοι

ανεβαινομεν

And after

♦

these days,

♦

♦

having packed the baggage

we went up

εις		ιερουσαλημ
to		Jerusalem.

συνηλθον

δε

και

των

μαθητων

απο

καισαρειας

συν

ημιν

And went

♦

also [some]

of the

disciples

from

Ceasarea

with

us,

αγοντες

παρ

ω

ξενισθωμεν

μνασωνι

τινι

κυπριω

αρχαιω

bringing [one]

with

whom

we might lodge,

a certain Mnason,

♦

a Cypriot,

an old

μαθητη
disciple.

εδεξαντο

Jerusalem

gladly 3

And on the

following [day]

us

to

James,

παντες		τε		παρεγενοντο		οι		πρεσβυτεροι
and all		♦		assembled 3		the 1		elders. 2

ασπασαμενος

αυτους

εξηγειτο

καθ

εν

εκαστον

ων

And

having saluted

them

he related

one by one

what things

εποιησεν

ο

θεος

εν

τοις

εθνεσιν

δια

της

διακονιας

αυτου

wrought 2

♦

God 1

among

the

nations

by

his ministry.

♦

♦

οι

δε

ακουσαντες

εδοξαζον

τον

κυριον

ειπον

τε

αυτω

And they

♦

having heard

glorified

the

Lord.

And they said

♦

to him,

θεωρεις

αδελφε

ποσαι

μυριαδες

εισιν

ιουδαιων

των

πεπιστευκοτων

Thou seest,

brother,

how many

myriads

they are

of Jews

who

having believed,

και

παντες

ζηλωται

του

νομου

υπαρχουσιν

and

all

zealous ones

of the

law

are.

κατηχηθησαν

δε

περι

σου

οτι

αποστασιαν

διδασκεις

απο

And they were informed

♦

concerning

thee,

that

apostasy 9

μωσεως

τα

εθνη

παντας

ιουδαιους

λεγων

μη

περιτεμνειν

Moses 11

Jews, 5

telling

τεκνα

μηδε

τοις

εθεσιν

περιπατειν

the

children,

nor

in the

customs

to walk.

τι

ουν

εστιν

παντως

δει

πληθος

συνελθειν

ακουσονται

γαρ

οτι

What

then

is it?

certainly

come together;

for they will hear

be at expense

for

them,

ινα

ξυρησωνται

κεφαλην

γνωσιν

ων

that

they may shave

the

head;

and

κατηχηνται

σου

ουδεν

εστιν

αλλα

στοιχεις

και

they have been informed

about

thee

nothing 2

is, 1

but

thou walkest 3 orderly 4

πεπιστευκοτων

εθνων

ημεις

επεστειλαμεν

But concerning

those

who have believed

of the nations

we

wrote,

κριναντες

μηδεν

τοιουτον

τηρειν

αυτους

ει

μη

judging

to 2 observe 3

them, 1

except

♦

φυλασσεσθαι

αυτους

το

τε

ειδωλοθυτον

και

το

αιμα

και

to keep from 2

themselves 1

♦

♦

things offered to idols,

and

♦

blood,

and

πνικτον		και		πορνειαν
what is strangled,		and		fornication.

παραλαβων

men,

on the

next

day

with

διαγγελλων

εκπληρωσιν

them

having been purified

entered

into

the

temple,

declaring

the

fulfillment

προσηνεχθη

of the

days

of the

purification,

until

was offered

for

Israelites,

help!

this

is

the

man

who

the

people

and

the

law

and

this place

all

πανταχου

διδασκων

ετι

τε

και

ελληνας

εισηγαγεν

εις

το

ιερον

everywhere

teaches,

and further

Greeks

he brought

into

the

temple,

and

For they had before seen

But as they were seeking

to kill

there came

a representation

to the

chief captain

band,

who

at once

having taken with [him]

soldiers

and

centurions

κατεδραμεν

επ

αυτους

οι

δε

ιδοντες

χιλιαρχον

ran down

upon

them.

And they

♦

having seen

the

chief captain

and

the

στρατιωτας		επαυσαντο		τυπτοντες		τον		παυλον
soldiers		ceased		beating		♦		Paul.

τοτε

εγγισας

ο

χιλιαρχος

επελαβετο

αυτου

και

Then

having 4 drawn 5 near 6

laid hold

of him,

and

εκελευσεν

δεθηναι

αλυσεσιν

δυσιν

και

επυνθανετο

τις

αν

ειη

commanded [him]

to be bound

with chains 2

two, 1

and

inquired

who

he might be,

και		τι		εστιν		πεποιηκως
and		what		he had been doing.		♦

οχλω

crowd.

δυναμενος

γνωναι

ασφαλες

And not being able

to know

certainty

on account of

the

θορυβον

αγεσθαι

παρεμβολην

tumult,

he commanded

fortress.

συνεβη

βασταζεσθαι

But when

he came

on

the

stairs

it happened

was 2 borne 3

οχλου

by

the

soldiers

because of

the

violence

of the

crowd.

multitude

people,

crying,

Away with

him.

εισαγεσθαι

παρεμβολην

λεγει

But being about

to be brought

into

the

fortress

♦

Paul

says

to the

χιλιαρχω

ει

εξεστιν

μοι

ειπειν

τι

προς

σε

ο

δε

εφη

chief captain,

♦

Is it permitted

to me

to say

something

to

thee?

And he

♦

said,

ασημου

πολεως

επιτρεψον

and I beseech

thee,

allow

μοι		λαλησαι		προς		τον		λαον
me		to speak		to		the		people.

standing

the

stairs

κατεσεισεν

τη

χειρι

τω

λαω

πολλης

δε

σιγης

γενομενης

made a sign

with the

hand

to the

people;

and great

♦

silence

having taken place

προσεφωνησεν		τη		εβραιδι		διαλεκτω		λεγων
he spoke to [them]		with the		Hebrew		language		saying,
