Acts of the Apostles
| And having journeyed through | ♦ | ♦ | Amphipolis | and | Apollonia | they came | to |
| Thessalonica, | where | was | the | synagogue | of the | Jews. |
| And acccording to | ♦ | the | custom | ♦ | with Paul | he went in | to | them, | and | for |
| sabbaths 2 | three 1 | reasoned | with them | from | the | scriptures, |
| opening | and | setting forth | that | the 3 | Christ 4 | it 1 behoved 2 | to have suffered |
| and | to have risen | from among | [the] dead, | and | that | this | is | the | Christ | Jesus, |
| ον | εγω | καταγγελλω | υμιν | |||||
| whom | I | announce | to you. |
| And | some | of | them | were obedient, | and | joined themselves | ♦ | to Paul | and |
| ♦ | to Silas, | and of the | ♦ | worshipping | Greeks | a great | multitude, | and of women 3 | ♦ |
| των | πρωτων | ουκ | ολιγαι | |||||
| the 1 | chief 2 | not | a few. |
| But having 4 become 5 envious 6 | ♦ | the 1 | disobeying 2 | Jews, 3 | and |
| having taken to [them] | of 2 the 3 | market-loungers 4 | certain 1 | men 6 | evil, 5 | and |
| having collected a crowd | roused in 3 tumult 4 | the 1 | city; 2 | and having assaulted | ♦ | the | house |
| of Jason | they sought | them 3 | to 1 bring 2 out | to | the | people; |
| but not having found | ♦ | ♦ | them | they dragged | ♦ | Jason | and | certain |
| brethren | before | the | city magistrates, | crying out, | ♦ | Those who | the 5 | habitable 6 world 7 |
| have 1 set 2 in 3 confusion 4 | these | also 4 | here 3 | are 1 come, 2 |
| whom | has 2 received 3 | Jason; 1 | and | these | all | contrary to | the | decrees |
| of Ceasar | do, | king 3 | saying 1 | another 2 | there is-- | Jesus. |
| And they troubled | ♦ | the | crowd | and | the | city magistrates | hearing | these things. |
| And | having taken | ♦ | security | from | ♦ | Jason | and | the | rest | they let go 2 |
| αυτους | ||
| them. 1 |
| But the | ♦ | brethren | immediately | by | ♦ | night | sent away | both Paul | ♦ |
| ♦ | and | ♦ | Silas | to | Beroea; | who, | being arrived, | into | the |
| synagogue | of the | Jews | went. |
| And these | ♦ | were | more noble | than those | in | Thessalonica, | who |
| received | the | word | with | all | readiness, | ♦ | daily | ♦ | examining |
| the | scriptures | if | were | these things | so. |
| Many | indeed | therefore | from among | them | believed, | and | of the | Grecian 2 |
| women 3 | ♦ | honourable 1 | and | men | not | a few. |
| But when | ♦ | knew 5 | the 1 | from 3 | ♦ | Thessalonica 4 | Jews 2 | that | also | in | ♦ |
| Beroea | was announced | by | ♦ | Paul | the | word | ♦ | of God, | they came | also there |
| stirring up | the | crowds. |
| And immediately | ♦ | then | ♦ | Paul 5 | sent 3 away 4 | the 1 | brethren 2 |
| to go | as | to | the | sea; | but remained | ♦ | both Silas | ♦ | ♦ | and | ♦ |
| τιμοθεος | εκει | |||
| Timotheus | there. |
| But those | ♦ | conducting | ♦ | Paul | brought | him | unto | Athens; | and |
| having received | a command | to | ♦ | Silas | and | Timotheus, | that | as | quickly as possible |
| they should come | to | him, | they departed. |
| But in | ♦ | ♦ | Athens | waiting 2 for 3 | them 4 | ♦ | Paul, 1 |
| was 7 painfully 8 excited 9 | his 5 spirit 6 | ♦ | ♦ | in | him | seeing |
| full 4 of 5 idols 6 | being 3 | the 1 | city. 2 |
| He reasoned | indeed | therefore | in | the | synagogue | with the | Jews | and | those who |
| worshipped, | and | in | the | market-place | every day | ♦ | ♦ | with | those who |
| παρατυγχανοντας | ||
| met with [him]. |
| But some | ♦ | of the | Epicureans | and | the | Stoics, | philosophers, |
| encountered | him. | And | some | said, | What | ♦ | may desire 3 | this 1 chatterer 2 |
| ♦ | ♦ | to say? | And some, | ♦ | Of foreign | gods (lit. demons) | he seems |
| a proclaimer | to be, | because [of] | ♦ | Jesus | and | the | resurrection | to them |
| ευηγγελιζετο | ||
| he announced the glad tidings. |
| And having taken hold | ♦ | of him, | to | the | Mars’ | hill | the brought [him], |
| saying, | Are we able | to know | what [is] | this new | ♦ | ♦ | which 2 | by 3 | thee 4 |
| λαλουμενη | διδαχη | |||
| is 5 spoken 6 | teaching? 1 |
| For strange 2 things 3 | ♦ | certain 1 | thou bringest | to | our ears. | ♦ | ♦ |
| We wish | therefore | to know | what | may 3 mean 4 | ♦ | these 1 things. 2 | ♦ |
| Athenians 7 | now 5 | all 6 | and | the | sojourning | strangers | in | nothing | else |
| spent their leisure | than | to tell | something 4 | and 1 | to 2 hear 3 | newer. |
| And 2 having 3 stood | ♦ | ♦ | Paul 1 | in | [the] midst | ♦ | of Mars’ | hill | said, | Men |
| Athenians, | in | all things | ♦ | very religious (lit. very reverent to demons) | you | I behold; |
| for passing through | ♦ | and | beholding | ♦ | objects 2 of 3 veneration 4 | your, 1 | I found |
| also | an altar | on | which | had been inscribed, | To an unknown | God. | Whom | therefore |
| not knowing | ye reverence, | him | I | announce | to you. |
| The | God | who | made | the | world | and | all things | that [are] | in | it, | he |

| and he made | ♦ | of | one | blood | every | nation | of men, | to dwell | upon | all |
