Acts of the Apostles
And | certain | having come down | from | ♦ | Judaea | were teaching | the | brethren, | ♦ |
Unless | ♦ | ye be circumcised | after the | custom | of Moses | ye cannot | ♦ | be saved. |
Having taken place | therefore | a commotion | and | discussion | not | a little | ♦ | by Paul |
and | ♦ | Barnabas | with | them, | they appointed | to 4 go 5 up 6 | Paul 1 | and 2 |
Barnabas 3 | and | certain | others | from amongst | them | to | the | apostles | and |
elders | to | Jerusalem, | about | this question. | ♦ | ♦ |
They | indeed | therefore | having been sent forward | by | the | assembly | passed through | ♦ |
Phoenicia | and | Samaria, | relating | the | conversion | of the | nations. | And |
they caused | joy 2 | great 1 | to all | the | brethren. |
And having come | ♦ | to | Jerusalem | they were welcomed | by | the | assembly |
and | the | apostles | and | the | elders, | and they declared | ♦ | all that | ♦ | God |
εποιησεν | μετ | αυτων | ||||
did | with | them. |
And rose up | ♦ | certain | of those | of | the | sect | of the | Pharisees |
who believed, | saying, | ♦ | It is necessary | to circumcise | them, |
and charge [them] | ♦ | to keep | the | law | of Moses. |
Were 2 gathered 3 together 4 | and 1 | the | apostles | and | the | elders | to see | about |
του | λογου | τουτου | ||||
♦ | this matter. | ♦ |
And much | ♦ | discussion | having taken place, | having 2 risen 3 up 4 | Peter 1 | said | to |
them, | Men | brethren, | ye | know | that | from | days 2 | early 1 | ♦ |
God | among | us | chose | by | my mouth | ♦ | ♦ | [for] to 3 hear 4 | the 1 |
nations 2 | the | word | of the | glad tidings, | and | to believe. |
And | the | heart-knowing | God | bore witness | to them, | giving | to them | the |
Spirit | the | Holy | as | also | to us, |
and | put no difference | ♦ | between | us 2 | both 1 | and | them, | by the | faith |
having purified | their hearts. | ♦ | ♦ |
Now | therefore | why | tempt ye | ♦ | God | to put | a yoke | upon | the | neck |
of the | disciples, | which | neither | our fathers | ♦ | ♦ | nor | we | were able |
βαστασαι | ||
to bear? |
But | by | the | grace | of [the] Lord | Jesus | Christ | we believe | to be saved, |
καθ | ον | τροπον | κακεινοι | |||||
in the same manner as | ♦ | ♦ | they also. |
Kept 2 silent 3 | and 1 | all | the | multitude, | and | heard | Barnabas | and | Paul |
relating | what | did 5 | ♦ | God 4 | signs 1 | and 2 | wonders 3 | among | the | nations |
δι | αυτων | ||||
by | them. |
And after | ♦ | were 2 silent 3 | ♦ | they 1 | answered 5 | James, 4 | saying, | Men |
αδελφοι | ακουσατε | μου | ||||
brethren, | hear | me. |
Simeon | related | how | first | ♦ | God | visited | to take | out of |
nations | a people | for | his name. | ♦ | ♦ |
And | with this | agree | the | words | of the | prophets: | as |
γεγραπται | ||
it has been written, |
After | these things | I will return | and | will build again | the | tabernacle | of David | which |
is fallen; | and | the | ruins | of it | I will build again, | and | will set up |
αυτην | ||
it, |
so that | may 5 seek 6 out 7 | ♦ | the 1 | residue 2 | ♦ | of 3 men 4 | the |
Lord, | and | all | the | nations | upon | whom | has been called | my name | ♦ | ♦ | upon |
them, | says | [the] Lord | who | does | these 2 things 3 | all: 1 |
known | from | eternity | are | ♦ | to God | all | his works. | ♦ | ♦ |
Wherefore | I | judge | not | to trouble | those who | from | the | nations |
turn | to | ♦ | God; |
but | to write | to them | ♦ | to abstain | from | the | pollutions | of the |
idols | and | ♦ | fornication | and | ♦ | what is strangled | and | ♦ | blood. |
For Moses | ♦ | from | generations | of old | in every city | ♦ | those 2 | proclaiming 3 |
him 4 | has 1 | in | the | synagogues, | every | ♦ | sabbath | being read. |
Then | it seemed good | to the | apostles | and | to the | elders | with | whole 2 | the 1 |
assembly, | chosen | men | from among | them | to send | to | Antioch |
with | ♦ | Paul | and | Barnabas, | Judas | ♦ | surnamed | Barnabas, | and |
Silas, | men 2 | leading 1 | among | the | brethren, |
having written | by | their hand | ♦ | thus: | The | apostles | and | the | elders |
and | the | brethren, | to those | in | ♦ | Antioch | and | Syria | and | Cilicia, |
brethren | ♦ | from among | [the] nations, | greeting. |
Inasmuch as | he have heard | that | certain | from amongst | us | having gone out | troubled |
you | by words, | upsetting | your souls, | ♦ | ♦ | saying |
[ye must] be circumcised | and | keep | the | law; | to whom | we gave no [such] command; |
διεστειλαμεθα | ||
♦ |
it seemed good | to us | having come | with one accord, | chosen | men |
to send | to | you, | with | our beloved | ♦ | ♦ | Barnabas | and | Paul, |
men | who have given up | their lives | ♦ | ♦ | for | the | name |
of our Lord | ♦ | ♦ | Jesus | Christ. |
We have sent | therefore | Judas | and | Silas, | also 2 | themselves 1 | by | word |
απαγγελλοντας | τα | αυτα | ||||
telling [you] | the | same things. |
For it seemed good | ♦ | to the | Holy | Spirit | and | to us, | no | further |
to 2 lay 3 | upon 4 you 5 | burden 1 | than | ♦ | these necessary things: | ♦ |
to abstain | from things sacrificed to idols, | and | from blood | and | from what is strangled, | and |
from fornication; | from | which | keeping | yourselves, | well | ye will do. | Farewell. |
They | ♦ | therefore. | being let go | went | to | Antioch, | and | having gathered |
the | multitude | delivered | the | epistle. |
And having read | ♦ | they rejoiced | at | the | consolation. |
And Judas | ♦ | and | Silas, | also 2 | themselves 1 | prophets 4 | being, 3 | by | discourse 2 |
much 1 | exhorted | the | brethren, | and | established [them]. |
And having continued | ♦ | a time | they were let go | in | peace | from | the |
brethren | to | the | apostles; |
but it seemed good | ♦ | ♦ | to Silas | to remain | there. |
And Paul | ♦ | and | Barnabas | stayed | in | Antioch, | teaching | and |
announcing 5 the 6 glad 7 tidings 8 | with 1 | also 4 | others 3 | many-- 2 | the | word | of the |
κυριου | ||
Lord. |
But after | ♦ | certain | days | said | Paul | to | Barnabas, | Having turned back |
indeed 3 | let 1 us 2 look after | our brethren | ♦ | ♦ | in | every | city | in |
which | we have annonuced | the | word | of the | Lord, | how | they are. |
And Barnabas | ♦ | purposed | to take with [them] | ♦ | John | ♦ |
καλουμενον | μαρκον | |||
called | Mark; |
Paul 2 | but 1 | thought it well | him who | withdrew | from | them | from | Pamphylia, |
and | went not with | ♦ | them | to | the | work, | not | to take with 2 [them] 3 |
τουτον | ||
him. 1 |
Arose | therefore | a sharp contention | so that | departed 2 | they 1 | from |
one another, | and Barnabas | ♦ | ♦ | having taken | ♦ | Mark | sailed |
εις | κυπρον | |||
to | Cyprus; |
but Paul | ♦ | having chosen | Silas | went forth, | having been committed | to the | grace |
♦ | of God | by | the | brethren. |
And he passed through | ♦ | ♦ | Syria | and | Cilicia, | establishing | the |
εκκλησιας | ||
assemblies. |
