ΤΟ ΚΑΤΑ ΙΩΑΝΝΗΝ ΑΓΙΟΝ ΕΥΑΓΓΕΛΙΟΝ

Gospel of John

 

CHAPTER 2
  1  και   τη   ημερα   τη   τριτη   γαμος   εγενετο   εν   κανα   της   γαλιλαιας   και  
    And   on the   day 2   ♦   third 1   a marriage   took place   in   Cana   ♦   of Galilee,   and  
ην   η   μητηρ   του   ιησου   εκει    
was 5   the 1   mother 2   ♦   of 3 Jesus 4   there.    
  2  εκληθη   δε   και   ο   ιησους   και   οι   μαθηται   αυτου   εις   τον  
    And was 3 invited 4   ♦   also 2   ♦   Jesus 1   and   his disciples   ♦   ♦   to   the  
γαμον    
marriage.    
  3  και   υστερησαντος   οινου   λεγει   η   μητηρ   του   ιησου   προς   αυτον   οινον
    And   being deficient   of wine   says 5   the 1   mother 2   ♦   of 3 Jesus 4   to   him,   Wine
  ουκ   εχουσιν    
  they have not.   ♦    
  4  λεγει   αυτη   ο   ιησους   τι   εμοι   και   σοι   γυναι   ουπω   ηκει   η  
    Says 2   to 3 her 4   ♦   Jesus, 1   What   to me   and   to thee,   woman?   not yet   is come   mine hour.  
ωρα   μου    
♦   ♦    
  5  λεγει   η   μητηρ   αυτου   τοις   διακονοις   ο   τι   αν   λεγη  
    Says 3   his 1 mother 2   ♦   ♦   to the   servants,   Whatever   ♦   ♦   he may say  
υμιν   ποιησατε    
to you,   do.    
  6  ησαν   δε   εκει   υδριαι   λιθιναι   εξ   κειμεναι   κατα   τον  
    There 2 were 3   and 1   there   water-vessels 2   of 3 stone 4   six 1   standing   acccording to   to the  
καθαρισμον   των   ιουδαιων   χωρουσαι   ανα   μετρητας   δυο   η   τρεις    
purification   of the   Jews,   holding 2   each 1   metretae   two   or   three.    
  7  λεγει   αυτοις   ο   ιησους   γεμισατε   τας   υδριας   υδατος   και   εγεμισαν  
    Says 2   to 3 them 4   ♦   Jesus, 1   Fill   the   water-vessels   with water.   And   they filled  
αυτας   εως   ανω    
them   unto   [the] brim.    
  8  και   λεγει   αυτοις   αντλησατε   νυν   και   φερετε   τω   αρχιτρικλινω   και  
    And   he says   to them,   Draw out   now   and   carry   to the   master of the feast.   And  
ηνεγκαν    
they carried [it].    
  9  ως   δε   εγευσατο   ο   αρχιτρικλινος   το   υδωρ   οινον  
    But when   ♦   had 6 tasted 7   the 1   master 2 of 3 the 4 feast 5   the   water   wine 4  
γεγενημενον   και   ουκ   ηδει   ποθεν   εστιν   οι   δε   διακονοι   ηδεισαν  
that 1 had 2 become, 3   and   knew not   ♦   whence   it is,   (but the   ♦   servants   knew  
οι   ηντληκοτες   το   υδωρ   φωνει   τον   νυμφιον   ο   αρχιτρικλινος    
who   had drawn   the   water,)   calls 6   the 7   bridegroom 8   the 1   master 2 of 3 the 4 feast 5    
  10  και   λεγει   αυτω   πας   ανθρωπος   πρωτον   τον   καλον   οινον   τιθησιν   και  
    and   says   to him,   Every   man   first   the   good   wine   sets on,   and  
οταν   μεθυσθωσιν   τοτε   τον   ελασσω   συ   τετηρηκας   τον   καλον  
when   they may have drunk freely   then   the   inferior;   thou   hast kept   the   good  
οινον   εως   αρτι    
wine   until   now.    
  11  ταυτην   εποιησεν   την   αρχην   των   σημειων   ο   ιησους   εν   κανα   της  
    This   did 5   ♦   beginning 1   of 2 the 3   signs 4   ♦   Jesus   in   Cana   ♦  
γαλιλαιας   και   εφανερωσεν   την   δοξαν   αυτου   και   επιστευσαν   εις  
of Galilee,   and   manifested   his glory;   ♦   ♦   and   believed 3   on 4  
αυτον   οι   μαθηται   αυτου    
him 5   his 1 disciples. 2   ♦   ♦    
  12  μετα   τουτο   κατεβη   εις   καπερναουμ   αυτος   και   η   μητηρ   αυτου   και  
    After   this   he went down   to   Capernaum,   he   and   ♦   his mother   ♦   and  
οι   αδελφοι   αυτου   και   οι   μαθηται   αυτου   και   εκει   εμειναν   ου  
♦   brethren 2   his 1   and   his disciples,   ♦   ♦   and   there   they abode   not  
πολλας   ημερας    
many   days.    
  13  και   εγγυς   ην   το   πασχα   των   ιουδαιων   και   ανεβη   εις   ιεροσολυμα   ο  
    And   near   was   the   passover   of the   Jews,   and   went 2 up 3   to 4   Jerusalem 5   ♦  
ιησους    
Jesus. 1    
  14  και   ευρεν   εν   τω   ιερω   τους   πωλουντας   βοας   και   προβατα   και  
    And   he found   in   the   temple   those who   sold   oxen   and   sheep   and  
περιστερας   και   τους   κερματιστας   καθημενους    
doves,   and   the   money-changers   sitting;    
  15  και   ποιησας   φραγελλιον   εκ   σχοινιων   παντας   εξεβαλεν   εκ   του  
    and   having made   a scourge   of   cords   all 4   he 1 drove 2 out 3   from   the  
ιερου   τα   τε   προβατα   και   τους   βοας   και   των   κολλυβιστων   εξεχεεν  
temple,   both the   ♦   sheep   and   the   oxen;   and   of the   money-changers   he poured out  
το   κερμα   και   τας   τραπεζας   ανεστρεψεν    
the   coin   and   the   tables   overthrew.    
  16  και   τοις   τας   περιστερας   πωλουσιν   ειπεν   αρατε   ταυτα  
    And   to those who   the 2   doves 3   sold 1   he said,   Take   these things  
εντευθεν   μη   ποιειτε   τον   οικον   του   πατρος   μου   οικον  
hence;   make not   ♦   the   house   of my father   ♦   ♦   a house  
εμποριου    
of merchandise.    
  17  εμνησθησαν   δε   οι   μαθηται   αυτου   οτι   γεγραμμενον   εστιν   ο
    And remembered 3   ♦   his 1 disciples 2   ♦   ♦   that   written   it is,   The
  ζηλος   του   οικου   σου   κατεφαγεν   με    
  zeal   of thine house   ♦   ♦   has eaten up 2   me. 1    
  18  απεκριθησαν   ουν   οι   ιουδαιοι   και   ειπον   αυτω   τι   σημειον  
    Answered 4   therefore 3   the 1   Jews 2   and   said   to him,   What   sign  
δεικνυεις   ημιν   οτι   ταυτα   ποιεις    
shewest thou   to us   that   these things   thou doest?    
  19  απεκριθη   ο   ιησους   και   ειπεν   αυτοις   λυσατε   τον   ναον   τουτον   και  
    Answered 2   ♦   Jesus 1   and   said   to them,   Destroy   this temple,   ♦   ♦   and  
εν   τρισιν   ημεραις   εγερω   αυτον    
in   three   days   I will raise up   it.    
  20  ειπον   ουν   οι   ιουδαιοι   τεσσαρακοντα   και   εξ   ετεσιν   ωκοδομηθη  
    Said 4   therefore 3   the 1   Jews, 2   Forty   and   six   years   was building  
ο   ναος   ουτος   και   συ   εν   τρισιν   ημεραις   εγερεις   αυτον    
this temple,   ♦   ♦   and   thou   in   three   days   wilt raise up   it?    
  21  εκεινος   δε   ελεγεν   περι   του   ναου   του   σωματος   αυτου    
    But he   ♦   spoke   concerning   the   temple   of his body.   ♦   ♦    
  22  οτε   ουν   ηγερθη   εκ   νεκρων   εμνησθησαν   οι  
    When   therefore   he was raised up   from among   [the] dead   remembered 3   his 1 disciples 2  
μαθηται   αυτου   οτι   τουτο   ελεγεν   αυτοις   και   επιστευσαν   τη   γραφη   και  
♦   ♦   that   this   he had said   to them,   and   believed   the   scripture   and  
τω   λογω   ω   ειπεν   ο   ιησους    
the   word   which   had 2 spoken 3   ♦   Jesus. 1    
  23  ως   δε   ην   εν   ιεροσολυμοις   εν   τω   πασχα   εν   τη   εορτη   πολλοι  
    But when   ♦   he was   in   Jerusalem   at   the   passover,   at   the   feast,   many  
επιστευσαν   εις   το   ονομα   αυτου   θεωρουντες   αυτου   τα   σημεια   α  
believed   on   his name,   ♦   ♦   beholding   his   ♦   signs   which  
εποιει    
he was doing.    
  24  αυτος   δε   ο   ιησους   ουκ   επιστευεν   εαυτον   αυτοις   δια  
    But himself 2   ♦   ♦   Jesus 1   did not trust   ♦   himself   to them,   because of  
το   αυτον   γινωσκειν   παντας    
his knowing   ♦   ♦   all [men],    
  25  και   οτι   ου   χρειαν   ειχεν   ινα   τις   μαρτυρηση   περι   του   ανθρωπου  
    and   that   no 3   need 4   he 1 had 2   that   any   should testify   concerning   ♦   man,  
αυτος   γαρ   εγινωσκεν   τι   ην   εν   τω   ανθρωπω    
for he   ♦   knew   what   was   in   ♦   man.
