Gospel of Mark

CHAPTER 12
And   he began   to them   in   parables   to say,   A 4 vineyard 5   planted 3
a 1 man, 2   and   placed about [it]   a fence,   and   dug   a wine-vat,   and
built   a tower,   and   let out   it   to husbandmen,   and   left the country.
And   he sent   to   the   husbandmen   at the   season   a bondman,   that   from   the
husbandmen   he might receive   from   the   fruit   of the   vineyard.
But they     having taken   him 2   beat, 1   and   sent [him] away   empty.
And   again   he sent   to   them   another   bondman,   and him
having stoned   they struck on the head,   and   sent [him] away   having insulted [him].
And   again   another   he sent,   and him   they killed;   also   many   others,
  some 2     beating, 1   and others 2     killing. 1
Yet   therefore   one 2   son 3   having 1   beloved 6   his 4 own, 5   he sent   also   him
to   them   last,   saying,     They will have respect for   my son.
But those       husbandmen   said   among   themselves,     This   is   the
heir:   come,   let us kill   him,   and   ours   will be   the   inheritance.
And   having taken   him   they killed [him],   and   cast forth [him]   outside   the   vineyard.
What   therefore   will do   the   lord   of the   vineyard?   He will come   and   will destroy
the   husbandmen,   and   will give   the   vineyard   to others.
    Not 3 even 4   this 6 scripture 7       did 1 ye 2 read? 5   [The] stone   which
rejected 4   those 1 who 2   build, 3   this   is become     head

from [the]   Lord   was   this,   and   it is   wonderful   in   our eyes.
And   they sought   him   to lay hold of,   and   they feared   the   crowd;   for they knew
that   against   them   the   parable   he speaks.   And   leaving   him
they went away.
And   they send   to   him   some   of the   Pharisees   and   of the
Herodians,   that   him   they might catch   in discourse.
And they     having come   say   to him,   Teacher,   we know   that   true
thou art,   and     there is care   to thee   about   no one;   for not 3     thou 1 lookest 2   on [the]

appearance   of men,   but   with   truth   the   way     of God   teachest:
Is it lawful   tribute   to Ceasar   to give   or   not?
Should we give   or   should we not give?     But he     knowing   their hypocrisy
said   to them,   Why   me   do ye tempt?   Bring   me   a denarius   that
ιδω
I might see [it].
And they     brought [it].   And   he says   to them,   Whose [is]   this image       and
the   inscription?   And they     said   to him,   Ceasar’s.
And   answering 2     Jesus 1   said   to them,   Render   the things   of Ceasar
to Ceasar,   and   the things     of God     to God.   And   they wondered   at   him.
And   come 2   Sadducees 1   to   him,   who   say   a resurrection
there is not.     And   they questioned   him,   saying,
Teacher,   Moses   wrote   for us,   that   if   of anyone   a brother   should die   and
leave behind   a wife   and   children   leave not,     that   should 3 take 4   his 1 brother 2
the   wife   of him   and   raise up   seed   to his brother.

Seven   brethren   they were;   and   the   first   took   a wife,   and
dying   left no     seed;
and   the   second   took   her,   and   died,   and   neither   he   left
seed;   and   the   third   likewise.
And   took 3   her 4   the 1   seven, 2   and   left no     seed.   Last   of all
died   also   the   woman.
In the     therefore 2   resurrection, 1   when   they shall arise,   of which   of them   shall she be
wife?   for the     seven   had   her   as wife.
And   answering 2     Jesus 1   said   to them,   Not 3   therefore 4     do 1 ye 2 err,   not
knowing   the   scriptures   nor   the   power     of God?
For when     from among   [the] dead   they rise,   neither   do they marry   nor
are given in marriage,   but   are   as   angels   who [are]   in   the   heavens.
But concerning     the   dead,   that   they rise,   have ye not read     in
the   book   of Moses,   [in the part] on   the   bush,   how   spoke 2   to 3 him 4     God, 1   saying,
I [am]   the   God   of Abraham   and   the   God   of Isaac   and   the   God   of Jacob?
He is not     the   God   of [the] dead,   but   God   of [the] living.   Ye   therefore
greatly   err.
And   having 5 come 6 up 7   one 1   of 2 the 3   scribes, 4   having heard   them
reasoning together,   perceiving   that   well   them   he answered,   questioned   him,
Which   is   [the] first   of 2 all 3   commandment? 1
And Jesus       answered   him,     [The] first   of all   the
commandments [is],   Hear,   Israel:   [the] Lord   our God       Lord 3   one 2   is. 1
And   thou shalt love   [the] Lord   thy God       with   all   thy heart
and   with   all   thy soul       and   with   all   thy mind       and   with
all   thy strength.       This [is the]   first   commandment.
And   [the] second   like [it is]   this:   Thou shalt love     neighbour 2   thy 1   as   thyself.
Greater   than these   another   commandment   there is not.
And   said 3   to 4 him 5   the 1   scribe, 2   Right,   teacher,   according to   truth
thou hast said   that   one 3   is 2   God, 1   and   there is not     another   besides   him:
and     to love   him   with   all   the   heart   and   with   all   the   understanding
and   with   all   the   soul   and   with   all   the   strength,   and     to love [one’s]
neighbour   as   oneself,   more 2   is 1   than all   the   burnt offerings   and   the
sacrifices.
And     Jesus   seeing   him   that   intelligently   he answered,   said   to him,   Not
far   art thou   from   the   kingdom     of God.   And   no one   any more   dared
him 3   to 1 question. 2
And   answering 2     Jesus 1   said,   teaching   in   the   temple,   How   say
the   scribes   that   the   Christ   son 2   is 1   of David?
himself 3   for 1   David 2   said   by   the   Spirit   the   Holy,   Said 3   the 1   Lord 2
to my Lord,       Sit   at   my right hand     until     I place   thine enemies
[as] a footstool   for thy feet.
Himself 2   therefore 3   David 1   calls   him   Lord,   and   whence   his son     is he?
And   the   great   crowd   heard   him   gladly.
And   he said   to them   in   his teaching,       Take heed   of   the
scribes,   who   like   in   robes   to walk about,   and   salutations   in
the   market-places
and   first seats   in   the   synagogues   and   first places   at   the
suppers;
who   devour   the   houses     of widows,   and   as a pretext   at 2 great 3 length 4
pray. 1   These   shall receive   more abundant   judgment.
And   having 2 sat 3 down 4     Jesus 1   opposite   the   treasury,   he saw
how   the   crowd   cast   money   into   the   treasury;   and   many   rich
were casting [in]   much.
And   having 4 come 5   one 1   widow 3   poor 2   cast [in]   lepta 2   two, 1   which   is
a kodrantes.
And   having called to [him]   his disciples       he says   to them,   Verily
I say   to you,   that   this widow 2         poor 1   more   than all   has cast [in]
of those   casting   into   the   treasury.
All 2   for 1   out of   that which   was abounding   to them   cast [in],   but she     out of
her destitution       all 3   as 4 much 5 as 6   she 7 had 8   cast 1 [in], 2   whole 10
her 9 livelihood. 11
