Gospel of Mark

CHAPTER 10
And thence   rising up   he comes   into   the   borders     of Judaea,   by   the   other side
of the   Jordan.   And   come together   again   crowds   to   him,   and   as
he had been accustomed   again   he taught   them.
And   coming to [him]   the   Pharisees   asked   him   if   it is lawful
for a husband   a wife   to put away,   tempting   him.
But he     answering   said   to them,   What   you 4   did 1 commmand 3   Moses? 2
And they     said,   Moses,   allowed   a bill   of divorce   to write,   and
to put away.
And   answering     Jesus   said   to them,   In view of   your hardheartedness
    he wrote   for you   this commandment;
but from     [the] beginning   of creation   male   and   female   made 2   them 3     God. 1
On account of   this   shall leave 3   a 1 man 2   his father       and
mother,   and   shall be joined   to   his wife,
and   shall 3 be 4   the 1   two 2   for 5   flesh 7   one; 6   so that   no longer   are they   two,   but   one
flesh.
What   therefore     God   united together,   man 3   let 1 not separate. 2
And   in   the   house   again   his disciples       concerning   the same thing
  asked   him.
And   he says   to them,   Whoever     should put away   his wife       and
should marry   another,   commits adultery   against   her.
And   if   a woman   should put away   her husband       and   be married
to another,   she commits adultery.
And   they brought   to him   little children,   that   he might touch   them.   But the
disciples   rebuked   those who   brought them.
But having seen [it]       Jesus   was indignant,   and   said   to them,   Suffer   the
little children   to come   to   me,   and   do not hinder     them;   for of such
  is   the   kingdom     of God.
Verily   I say   to you,   Whoever     shall not receive     the   kingdom
of God   as   a little child,   in no wise     shall enter   into   it.
And   having taken in 2 [his] 3 arms 4   them, 1   having laid [his]     hands   on   them
he blessed   them.
And   as he went forth     into [the]   way,   running 2 up 3   one 1   and
kneeling down to   him   asked   him,   Teacher 2   good, 1   what   shall I do   that
life   eternal   I may inherit?
But Jesus       said   to him,   Why   me   callest thou   good?   No one [is]   good
except     one,     God.
    The   commandments   thou knowest:   Thou shouldest not commit adultery;
thou shouldest not commit murder;     thou shouldest not steal;
thou shouldest not bear false witness;     thou shouldest not defraud;
  honour     thy father     and     mother.
And he     answering   said   to him,   Teacher,   these 2   all 1   have I kept
from   youth 2   my. 1
And Jesus       looking upon   him   loved   him,   and   said   to him,
One thing   to thee   is lacking:   go,   as much as   thou hast   sell   and   give   to the
poor,   and   thou shalt have   treasure   in   heaven;   and   come,   follow   me,
taking up   the   cross.
But he,     being sad   at   the   word,   went away   grieved,   for he had
  possessions 2   many. 1
And   looking around     Jesus   says     to his disciples,     How
difficultly   those     riches 2   having 1   into   the   kingdom     of God
shall enter!
And the     disciples   were astonished   at   his words.       And Jesus
again   answering   says   to them,   Children,   how   difficult   it is [for]
those who   trust   in     riches   into   the   kingdom     of God
to enter!
Easier   it is   [for] a camel   through   the   eye   of the   needle
to pass,   than [for]   a rich man   into   the   kingdom     of God   to enter.
And they     exceedingly   were astonished,   saying   among   themselves,   And   who
is able   to be saved?
But looking on     them     Jesus   says,   With   men   [it is] impossible,
but   not   with     God;   for all things     possible 2   are 1   with     God.
And   began 2     Peter 1   to say   to him,   Lo,   we   left   all,   and
followed   thee.
But answering       Jesus   said,   Verily   I say   to you,   No one   there is   who
has left   house,   or   brothers,   or   sisters,   or   father,   or   mother,   or   wife,   or
children,   or   lands,   for the sake   of me   and   of the   glad tidings,
that shall not receive       a hundredfold   now   in   this time:
houses   and   brothers   and   sisters   and   mothers   and   children   and
lands,   with   persecutions,   and   in   the   age   that is coming     life
eternal.
Many 2   but 1   shall 4 be 5   first 3   last,   and   the   last   first.
And they were     in   the   way   going up   to   Jerusalem,   and   was 2
going 3 on 4 before 5   them 6     Jesus, 1   and   they were astonished,   and   following
were afraid.   And   having taken to [him]   again   the   twelve,   he began   them
to tell   the things which   were about   to 3 him 4   to 1 happen: 2
Behold,   we go up   to   Jerusalem,   and   the   Son     of man
will be delivered up   to the   chief priests   and   to the   scribes,   and
they will condemn   him   to death,   and   will deliver up   him   to the   Gentiles.
And   they will mock   him,   and   will scourage   him,   and   will spit upon
him,   and   will kill   him;   and   on the   third   day   he will rise again.
And   come up   to him   James   and   John,   the   sons   of Zebedee,
saying,   Teacher,   we desire   that   whatever     we may ask   thou wouldest do
for us.
And he     said   to them,   What   do ye desire   to 2 do 3   me 1   for you?
And they     said   to him,   Give   to us,   that   one   at   thy right hand     and   one   at
thy left hand     we may sit   in   thy glory.
But Jesus       said   to them,   Ye know not     what   ye ask.   Are ye able
to drink   the   cup   which   I   drink,   and   the 5   baptism 6   which 7   I 8
am 9 baptized 10 [with] 11   to 1 be 2 baptized 3 [with]? 4
And they     said   to him,   We are able,   But Jesus       said   to them,   The
indeed 2   cup 1   which   I   drink,   ye shall drink;   and   the   baptism   which   I
am baptized [with],   ye shall be baptized [with];
but to sit       at   my right hand     and   at   my left hand     is not
mine   to give,   but [to those]   for whom   it has been prepared.
And   having heard [this]   the   ten   began   to be indignant   about   James   and
John.
But Jesus       having called to 2 [him] 3   them 1   says   to them,   Ye know   that
those who   are accounted   to rule over   the   nations   exercise lordship over   them;   and
their great ones       exercise authority over   them;
not   thus   however   shall it be   among   you;   but   whoever     desires   to become
great   among   you,   shall be   servant 2   your; 1
and   whoever     desires   of you   to become   first,   shall be   of 2 all 3   bondman. 1
For even     the   Son     of man   came not     to be served,   but
to serve,   and   to give   his life       a ransom   for   many.
And   they come   to   Jericho;   and   as he was going out     from   Jericho,   and
his disciples,       and   a crowd 2   large, 1   a son   of Timaeus,   Bartimaeus   the
blind [man],   was sitting   beside   the   way,   begging.
And   having heard   that   Jesus   the   Nazaraean   it was, (lit. it is)   he began   to cry out   and
to say,     Son   of David,   Jesus,   have pity on   me.
And   rebuked 2   him 3   many 1   that   he should be silent;   but he     much   more
cried out,   Son   of David,   have pity on   me.
And   having 2 stopped 3     Jesus 1   asked for   him   to be called.   And   they call
the   blind [man],   saying   to him,   Be of good courage;   rise up,   he calls   thee.
And he     casting away   his garment,       having risen up   he came   to
  Jesus.
And   answering   says 2   to 3 him 4     Jesus, 1   What   dost thou desire   I should do   to thee?
And the     blind [man]   said   to him,   Rabboni,   that   I may receive sight.
And Jesus       said   to him,   Go,   thy faith       has healed   thee.
And   immediately   he received sight,   and   followed     Jesus   in   the   way.
