Gospel of Mark

CHAPTER 9
And   he said   to them,   Verily   I say   to you,   That   there are   some   of those   here
standing,   who   in no wise     shall taste   of death   until     they see   the
kingdom     of God   having come   in   power.
And   after   days 2   six 1   takes 4 with 5 [him] 6     Jesus 3     Peter   and
James   and     John,   and   brings up   them   into   a mountain 2   high 1
apart     alone.   And   he was transfigured   before   them;
and   his garments       became   shining,   white   exceedingly   as   snow,
such as   a fuller   on   the   earth   is not able     to whiten.
And   appeared 4   to 5 them 6   Elias 1   with 2   Moses, 3   and   they were   talking with
Jesus.
And   answering 2     Peter 1   says     to Jesus,   Rabbi,   good   it is   for us   here
to be;   and   let us make   tabernacles 2   three, 1   for thee   one,   and   for Moses   one,   and
for Elias   one.
For he knew not       what   he should say,   for they were     greatly afraid.
And   there came   a cloud   overshadowing   them;   and   there came   a voice   out of   the
cloud,   saying,   This   is   my Son       the   beloved:   him 3
hear 1 ye. 2
And   suddenly   having looked around   no longer any one     they saw,   but
Jesus   alone   with   themselves.
And as were 2 descending 3     they 1   from   the   mountain   he charged   them   that
to no one   they should relate   what   they had seen   except     when   the   Son     of man
from among [the]   dead   be risen.
And   that   saying   they kept   among   themselves,   questioning   what   is   the
from 2 among 3 [the] 4   dead 5   rising. 1
And   they asked   him,   saying,   That   say 3   the 1   scribes 2   that
Elias   must   come   first?
And he     answering   said   to them,   Elias   indeed   having come   first,
restores   all things;   and   how   it has been written   of   the   Son     of man
that   many things   he should suffer   and   be set at nought:
but   I say   to you,   that   also   Elias   has come,   and   they did   to him   whatever
they desired,   as   it has been written   of   him.
And   having come   to   the   disciples   he saw   a crowd 2   great 1   around   them,   and
scribes   discussing   with them.
And   immediately   all   the   crowd   seeing   him   were greatly amazed,   and
running to [him]   saluted   him.
And   he asked   the   scribes,   What   discuss ye   with   them?
And   answering   one   out of   the   crowd   said,   Teacher,   I brought     son 2
my 1   to   thee,   having   a spirit 2   dumb; 1
and   wheresoever     him   it seizes   it dashes down 2   him; 1   and   he foams,   and
gnashes     his teeth,     and   is withering away.   And   I spoke     to disciples 2   thy 1
that   it   they might cast out,   and   they had not power.
But he     answering   him   says,   O   generation 2   unbelieving! 1   until   when   with
you   shall I be?   until   when   shall I bear with   you?   Bring   him   to   me.
And   they brought   him   to   him.   And   seeing   him   immediately   the   spirit
threw into 2 convulsions 3   him, 1   and   having fallen   upon   the   earth   he rolled   foaming.
And   he asked   his father,       How long   a time   is it   that   this
has been   with him?   And he     said,   From childhood.
And   often   him   both   into   fire   it cast   and   into   waters,   that   it might destroy
him:   but   if   anything   thou art able [to do],   help   us,   being moved with pity   on
ημας
us.
And Jesus       said   to him,     If   thou art able   to believe,   all things
are possible   to him that   believes.
And   immediately   crying out   the   father   of the   little child   with   tears   said,
I believe   Lord,   help   mine unbelief.
But seeing       Jesus   that   was 3 running 4 together 5   a 1 crowd, 2   rebuked   the
spirit   the   unclean,   saying   to it,     Spirit     dumb   and   deaf,
I   thee   command,   come   out of   him,   and   no more   mayest thou enter   into   him.
And   having cried out,   and   much 3   thrown 1 into 4 convulsions 5   him, 2   it came out;   and
he became   as if   dead,   so that   many   said   that   he was dead.
But Jesus,       having taken   him   by the   hand,   raised up 2   him, 1   and
he arose.
And   when he was entered     into   a house   his disciples
asked   him   apart,     Because [of what]   we 2   were not able 1
to cast out   it?
And   he said   to them,   This     kind   by   nothing   can   go out   except
by   prayer   and   fasting.
And   from thence   having gone forth   they went   through     Galilee;   and
he would not     that   anyone   should know [it];
he 2 was 3 teaching 4   for 1   his disciples,       and   said   to them,     The
Son     of man   is delivered   into [the]   hands   of men,   and
they will kill   him;   and   having been killed,   on the   third   day   he will arise.
But they     understood not   the   saying,   and   were afraid   him 3   to 1 ask. 2
And   he came   to   Capernaum;   and   in 2   the 3   house 4   being 1   he asked
them,   What   in   the   way   among   yourselves   were ye discussing?
But they     were silent;   with 2   one 3 another 4   for 1   they had been discussing   by   the   way,
who [was]   greater.
And   sitting down   he called   the   twelve,   and   he says   to them,   If   anyone   desires
first 3   to 1 be, 2   he shall be   of 2 all 3   last 1   and   of 2 all 3   servant. 1
And   having taken   a little child   he set   it   in   their midst;     and
having taken in 2 [his] 3 arms 4   it 1   he said   to them,
Whoever     one     of such   little children   shall receive   in   my name,
me   receives;   and   whoever     me   shall receive,   not   me   receives,   but
him who   sent   me.
And answered 2     him 3     John 1   saying,   Teacher,   we saw   some one
in thy name       casting out   demons,   who   follows not     us,
and   we forbade   him,   because   he follows not     us.
But Jesus       said,   Forbid not,     him;   for no one     there is   who
shall do   a work of power   in   my name,       and   be able   readily
to speak evil of   me;
for he who     is not     against   you,   for   you   is.
For whoever       may give to 2 drink 3   you 1   a cup   of water   in   my name,
because   Christ’s   ye 1 are, 2   verily   I say   to you,   in no wise
should he lose   his rewared.
And   whoever     may cause to 6 offend 7   one 1   of 2 the 3   little 4 ones 5   who   believe
in   me,   good   it is   for him   rather   if   is put   a millstone     about
his neck,       and   he has been cast   into   the   sea.
And   if   should 3 cause 4 to 6 offend 7   thee 5   thy 1 hand, 2       cut off   it:
good   for thee   it is   maimed   into     life   to enter,   [rather] than   the   two
hands   having   to go away   into   the   Gehenna,   into   the   fire   the   unquenchable,
where   their worm       dies not,     and   the   fire   is not quenched.

And   if   thy foot       should cause to 2 offend 3   thee, 1   cut off   it:
good   it is   for thee   to enter   into     life   lame,   [rather] than   the   two
feet   having   to be cast   into   the   Gehenna,   into   the   fire   the   unquenchable,
where     worm 2   their 1   dies not,     and   the   fire   is not quenched.

And   if     thine eye     should cause to 2 offend 3   thee, 1   cast out   it:   good
for thee   it is   with one eye   to enter   into   the   kingdom     of God,
[rather] than   two   eyes   having   to be cast   into   the   Gehenna     of fire,
where   their worm       dies not,     and   the   fire   is not quenched.

For everyone     with fire   shall be salted,   and   every   sacrifice   with salt   shall be salted.
Good [is]   the   salt,   but if     the   salt   saltless   is become,   with   what   it
will ye season?   Have   in   yourselves   salt,   and   be at peace   with   one another.
