Gospel of Matthew

CHAPTER 21
And   when   they drew near   to   Jerusalem   and   came   to   Bethphage   towards   the
mount     of Olives,   then     Jesus   sent   two   disciples,
saying   to them,   Go   into   the   village,   that   opposite   you,   and
immediately   ye will find   an ass   tied,   and   a colt   with   her;
having loosed [them]   bring   [them] to me.
And   if   any one   to you   say   anything,   ye shall say,     The   Lord   of 3 them 4   need 2
has. 1   And immediately     he will send   them.
But this     all   came to pass   that   might be fulfilled   that which   was spoken   by   the
prophet,   saying,
Say   to the   daughter   of Sion,   Behold,   thy king       comes   to thee,
meek   and   mounted   on   an ass   and   a colt [the]   foal   of a beast of burden.
And having 3 gone 4     the 1   disciples, 2   and   having done   as   ordered 2
them 3     Jesus,
they brought   the   ass   and   the   colt,   and   put   upon   them
garments 2   their, 1   and   he sat   on   them.
And the     greater part [of the]   crowd   strewed   their     garments   on   the   way,
and others     were cutting down   branches   from   the   trees   and   were strewing [them]
εν   τη   οδω
on   the   way.
And the     crowds   those   going before   and   those   following   were crying out,
saying,   Hosanna   to the   Son   of David;   blessed [be]   he who   comes   in [the]
name   of [the] Lord.   Hosanna   in   the   highest.
And   as he entered     into   Jerusalem   was 4 moved 5   all 1   the 2   city, 3
saying,   Who   is   this?
And the     crowds   said,   This   is   Jesus   the   prophet,   he who [is]   from
Nazareth     of Galilee.
And   entered 2     Jesus 1   into   the   temple     of God,   and   cast out   all
those   selling   and   buying   in   the   temple,   and   the   tables   of the
money changers   he overthrew,   and   the   seats   of those   selling   the
doves.
And   he says   to them,   It has been written,   My house       a house   of prayer
shall be called;   but ye     it   have made   a den   of robbers.
And   came 4   to 5 him 6   blind 1   and 2   lame 3   in   the   temple,   and   he healed
  them.
But seeing 7     the 1   chief 2 priests 3   and 4   the 5   scribes 6   the   wonders   which
he wrought,   and   the   children   crying   in   the   temple,   and   saying,   Hosanna
to the   Son   of David,   they were indignant,
and   said   to him,   Hearest thou   what   these   say?   And Jesus       says
to them,   Yea,   never 3   did 1 ye 2 read,     Out of [the]   mouth   of babes   and
sucklings   thou hast perfected   praise?
And   having left   them   he went   out of   the   city   to   Bethany,   and
passed the night   there.
Now early in the morning     coming back   into   the   city   he hungered,
and   seeing   fig-tree 2   one 1   by   the   way,   he came   to   it,   and   nothing   found   on
it   except     leaves   only.   And   he says   to it,   Never more   of   thee   fruit
let there be   for   ever.     And   dried 4 up 5   immediately 1   the 2   fig-tree. 3
And   seeing [it]   the   disciples   wondered,   saying,   How   immediately
is dried up   the   fig-tree!
Answering 2   and 1   the   Jesus   said   to them,   Verily,   I say   to you,   If   ye have
faith,   and   do not doubt,     not   only   the [miracle]   of the   fig-tree   shall ye do,
but   even if   to this mountain       ye should say,   Be thou taken away   and
be thou cast   into   the   sea,   it shall come to pass.
And   all things   whatsoever     ye may ask   in     prayer,   believing,
ye shall receive.
And   on his coming     into   the   temple   they came to   to him,   [when] teaching,   the
chief priests   and   the   elders   of the   people,   saying,   By   what   authority
these things   doest thou?   and   who   to thee   gave     this authority?
And answering       Jesus   said   to them,   Will 3 ask 4   you 5   I 1 also 2   thing 7   one, 6
which   if   ye tell   me,   I also   to you   will say   by   what   authority   these things   I do.
The   baptism   of John,   whence   was it?   from   heaven,   or   from   men?
And they     reasoned   with   themselves,   saying,   If   we should say,   From
heaven,   he will say   to us,   Why   then   did ye not believe     him?
but if     we should say,   From   men,   we fear   the   multitude;   for all
  hold     John   as   a prophet.
And   answering     Jesus   they said,   We know not.     Said 3   to 4 them 5
also 2   he, 1   Neither   I 2   tell 1   you   by   what   authority   these things   I do.
But what     think ye?     a man   had   children 2   two, 1   and   having come
to the   first   he said,   Child,   go   to-day   work   in   my vineyard.

And he     answering   said,   I will not;     but afterwards     having repented
he went.
And   having come   to the   second   he said   likewise.   And he     answering
said,   I [go],   sir,   and   went not.
Which   of   the   two   did   the   will   of the   father?   They say   to him,   The
first.   Says 2   to 3 them 4     Jesus, 1   Verily   I say   to you,   that   the   tax-gatherers   and   the
harlots   go before   you   into   the   kingdom     of God.
For came 2     to 3   you 4   John 1   in [the]   way   of righteousness,   and
ye did not believe     him,   but the     tax-gatherers   and   the   harlots
believed   him;   but ye     having seen   did not repent     afterwards
  to believe   him.
Another   parable   hear.   A man 2   certain 1   there was   a master of a house,
who   planted   a vineyard,   and   a 4 fence 5   it 3   placed 1 about, 2   and   dug
in   it   a winepress,   and   built   a tower,   and   let out   it
to husbandmen,   and   left the country.
And when     drew near   the   season   of the   fruits,   he sent   his bondmen
to   the   husbandmen   to receive   his fruits.
And   having 3 taken 4   the 1   husbandmen 2   his bondmen,       one
they beat,   and another     they killed,   and another     they stoned.
Again   he sent   other   bondmen   more   than the   first,   and
they did   to them   in like manner.
And at last     he sent   to   them   his son,       saying,
They will have respect for   my son.
But the     husbandmen   seeing   the   son   said   among   themselves,   This   is
the   heir;   come,   let us kill   him,   and   gain possession of
his inheritance.
And   having taking   him   they cast [him]   out of   the   vineyard   and   killed [him].
When   therefore   shall come   the   lord   of the   vineyard,   what   will he do
husbandmen 3   to 1 those? 2
They say   to him,   Evil [men]!   miserably   he will destroy   them,   and   the   vineyard
he will let out   to other   husbandmen,   who   will render   to him   the   fruits   in
  their seasons.
Says 2   to 3 them 4     Jesus, 1   Did ye never read     in   the   scriptures,
[The] stone   which   rejected 4   those 1 who 2   build, 3   this   is become
head   of [the] corner:   from   [the] Lord   was   this,   and   it is   wonderful   in
our eyes?
Because of   this   I say   to you,   that   shall 3 be 4 taken 5   from 1   you 2   the   kingdom
of God,   and   it shall be given   to a nation   producing   the   fruits   of it.
    And   he who   falls   on   this stone       shall be broken;
but on whomsoever         it shall fall   it will grind to powder   him.
    And   hearing 7   the 1   chief 2 priests 3   and 4   the 5   Pharisees 6   his parables
knew   that   about   them   he speaks.
And   seeking   him   to lay hold of,   they feared   the   crowds,   because   as
a prophet   him   they held.
