Gospel of Matthew
And | it came to pass | when | had 2 finished 3 | ♦ | Jesus 1 | commanding | ♦ | twelve 2 |
disciples 3 | his, 1 | he departed | thence | ♦ | to teach | and | to preach | in |
their cities. | ♦ | ♦ |
Now John | ♦ | ♦ | having heard | in | the | prison | the | works | of the | Christ, |
having sent | two | of his disciples, | ♦ | ♦ |
said | to him, | Art thou | ♦ | the | coming [one], | or | another | are we to look for? |
And | answering 2 | ♦ | Jesus 1 | said | to them, | Having gone | relate |
to John | what | ye hear | and | see: |
blind | receive sight, | and | lame | walk; | lepers | are cleansed, |
and | deaf | hear; | dead | are raised, | and | poor | are evangelized. |
And | blessed | is, | whoever | ♦ | shall not be offended | ♦ | in | me. |
But as these | ♦ | were going | began 2 | ♦ | Jesus 1 | to say | to the | crowds |
concerning | John. | What | went ye out | into | the | wilderness | to look at? | a reed |
by [the] | wind | shaken? |
But | what | went ye out | to see? | a man | in | soft | garments |
arrayed? | Behold, | those who | the | soft [garments] | wear | in | the | houses |
των | βασιλεων | εισιν | ||||
♦ | of kings | are. |
But | what | went ye out | to see? | a prophet? | Yea, | I say | to you, | and [one] |
more excellent | than a prophet. |
For this | ♦ | is [he] | concerning | whom | it has been written, | Behold, | I | send |
my messenger | ♦ | ♦ | before | thy face, | ♦ | who | shall prepare | thy way |
οδον | σου | εμπροσθεν | σου | |||||
♦ | ♦ | before | thee. |
Verily | I say | to you, | there has not risen | ♦ | among [those] | born |
of women | a greater | than John | the | Baptist. | But he that [is] | ♦ | less | in |
the | kingdom | of the | heavens | greater | than he | is. |
But from | ♦ | the | days | of John | the | Baptist | until | now, | the | kingdom |
of the | heavens | is taken by violence, | and [the] | violent | seize | it. |
For all | ♦ | the | prophets | and | the | law | until 2 | John 3 | prophesied. 1 |
And | if | ye are willing | to receive [it], | he | is | Elias | who | is about | to come. |
He that | has | ears | to hear, | let him hear. |
But to what | ♦ | shall I liken | this generation? | ♦ | ♦ | like 3 | it 1 is 2 |
to little children | in [the] | markets | sitting, | and | calling |
to their companions, | ♦ | ♦ |
and | saying, | We piped | to you, | and | ye did not dance; | ♦ |
we mourned | to you, | and | ye did not wail. | ♦ |
For came 2 | ♦ | John 1 | neither | eating | neither | drinking, | and | they say, |
δαιμονιον | εχει | |||
A demon | he has. |
Came 5 | the 1 | Son 2 | ♦ | of 3 man 4 | eating | and | drinking, | and | they say, | Behold, |
a man | a glutton | and | a wine bibber, | of tax-gatherers | a friend | and | of sinners. | And |
was 2 justified 3 | ♦ | wisdom 1 | by | children 2 | ♦ | her. 1 |
Then | he began | to reproach | the | cities | in | which | had taken place | the | most |
of his works of power, | ♦ | because | they repented not. | ♦ |
Woe | to thee, | Chorazin! | woe | to thee, | Bethsaida! | for | if | in | Tyre | and | Sidon |
had taken place | the | works of power | which | have taken place | in | you, | long ago | ♦ | in | sackcloth |
και | σποδω | μετενοησαν | |||||
and | ashes | they had repented. |
But | I say | to you, | For Tyre | and | Sidon | more tolerable | shall it be | in | day |
κρισεως | η | υμιν | ||||
of judgment | than | for you. |
And | thou, | Capernaum, | who | to | the | heaven | hast been lifted up, | to | hades |
shalt be brought down: | for | if | in | Sodom | had taken place | the | works of power |
which have taken place | ♦ | in | thee, | it had remained | ♦ | until | to-day. | ♦ |
But | I say | to you, | that | for [the] land | of Sodom | more tolerable | shall it be | in |
ημερα | κρισεως | η | σοι | |||||
day | of judgment | than | for thee. |
At | that | ♦ | time | answering | ♦ | Jesus | said, | I praise | thee, |
O Father, | Lord | of the | heaven | and | the | earth, | that | thou didst hide | these things | from |
wise | and | prudent, | and | didst reveal | them | to babes. |
Yea, | ♦ | Father, | for | thus | it was | well-pleasing | before | thee. |
All things | to me | were delivered | by | my Father. | ♦ | ♦ | And | no one |
knows | the | Son | except | ♦ | the | Father; | nor | the | Father | any 2 one 3 |
does know 1 | except | ♦ | the | Son, | and | he to whomsoever | ♦ | may 3 will 4 | the 1 | Son 2 |
αποκαλυψαι | ||
to reveal [him]. |
Come | to | me, | all | ye that | labour | and | are burdened, | and I |
αναπαυσω | υμας | |||
will give rest 2 | you. 1 |
Take | my yoke | ♦ | ♦ | upon | you, | and | learn | from | me, | for | meek | I am |
and | lowly | in heart; | ♦ | and | ye shall find | rest | to your souls. | ♦ |
υμων | ||
♦ |
For my yoke | ♦ | ♦ | ♦ | easy | and | ♦ | burden 2 | my 1 | light | is. |
