 The third year of Jehoiakim's reign would be 606-605 BCE.; Nebuchadnezzar was not likely king of Babylon. Jerusalem did not actually fall to the Babylonians until 597 to 586 BCE So the author of Daniel, who said he was living in Jerusalem at the time, writes that the Babylonian Captivity of the Jews began eight to 19 years earlier than now known to have happened!

Here are the REAL FACTS

• Nebuchanezzar ruled from 605-562 BC
• Jehoakim ruled from 609-597BC
• Nebuchanezzar’s first attack on Jerusalem happened in 605 Notice that Daniel doesn’t say that Jerusalem “FELL” only that “Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came to Jerusalem and laid siege to it” & captured Jehoiakim its king. Jehoiakim was taken to Babylon along with Daniel & the first Group of Exiles. There were 2 other kings in Jerusalem (Johoiachin 597BC(1) & Zedekiah 597-586BC(11)) before Jerusalem “Fell” in 586 BC
• Now was the 3^rd year of Jehoakim 605 or 606. Well according to the Jewish Meshna, the Jews counted the years of Kings from 1st Nisan (their 1^st month). If a king took office 3 days before the 1st Nisan then on the 1st Nisan, he would start his 2^nd year of reign even though he had only ruled for 3 days. So to answer the question, we don’t know what day Jehoakim took office so we don’t know when his “1^st Year” stared. If the Bible says it was the 3^rd year of Jehoakim’s reign he must have taken office after to the 1st Nisan 609 so that 605 BC would have been his 3^rd year by the Jewish way of counting & Daniel would have used the Jewish way of reckoning the year of the Jewish king But the Babylonian way of reckoning the year of the Babylonian king.

The real facts are that Nabonidus was not the last king of Babylon. Nabonidus didn’t want to be king so he lived in the city of Teima in Arabia where he spent all his time worshiping the god named SIN & placed his firstborn son Belshazzar as co-reigent in 553 B.C.. On clay cylinders discovered by Sir H. Rawlinson at Mughier and other Chaldean sites, Belshazzar (Belsaruzur) is named by Nabonidus as his eldest son. The inference is obvious, that during the latter years of his father's reign, Belshazzar was King-Regent in Babylon from 553 B.C. And the author of the Ancient Monarchies, our best historical authority here, tells us that Nabonidus (Nabunahid) "had associated with him in the government his son Belshazzar or Bel-shar-uzur, the grandson of the great Nebuchadnezzar," and "in his father's absence Belshazzar took the direction of affairs within the city". Notice also that in Daniel 5:7 Belshazzar says “Whosoever shall read this writing, and shew me the interpretation thereof, shall be clothed with scarlet, and [have] a chain of gold about his neck, and shall be the third ruler in the kingdom.” Why did he promise “the third ruler in the kingdom” because he was # 2 under his Father king Nabonidus. So you see once again, Daniel was right, BELSHAZZAR WAS KING OF BABYLON. By the way, we also know that when Babylon fell, the king was killed but it wasn’t Nabonidus who died because he was killed months later in Teima.

Now for the “Daniel was wrong in calling Nebuchadnezzar Belshazzar’s father when he was Belshazzar’s grand-father. This is so simple to answer that it proves that Atheists are both Lazy & retarded. The Hebrew word that Daniel uses is (AB) & means “Father & “Fathers” as in Ezr 5:12 "But after that our FATHERS had provoked the God of heaven unto wrath..." now the FATHERS mentioned here are even more distant then Grand Fathers. It is referring to ‘FATHERS more then 70 years in the past. The word can be used the same way as when we say "Our Founding Fathers".
