      (שׁלה,
      shēlāh;
      Σάλα,
      Sála): (1) The youngest son of Judah and the daughter of Shua the Canaanite (Gen 38:5, Gen 38:11, Gen 38:14, Gen 38:26; Gen 46:12; Num 26:20 (16); 1Ch 2:3; 1Ch 4:21). He gave his name to the family of the Shelanites (Num 26:20 (16)). Probably “the Shelanite” should be substituted for “the Shilonite” of Neh 11:5; 1Ch 9:5. (2) (שׁלח, shelāḥ): The son or (Septuagint) grandson of Arpachshad and father of Eber (Gen 10:24; Gen 11:13 (12), 14, 15; 1Ch 1:18, 1Ch 1:24; Luk 3:35). (3)Neh 3:15 = “Shiloah” of Isa 8:6. See SILOAM.
